Join the squares as the diagram using Colour 1 wrong side together with single crochet, firstly vertically then horizontally matching the pattern as diagram.
With Colour 2 dc around the rug, at each corner dc 3 times into the same stitch, sl st to finish off.
Repeat with Colour 3, 4 and 5. At each corner on the last round, work 1dc, 2ch, 1 dc instead of 3 dc, fasten off all ends with the wool needle securely.
Pin the rug out to the approximate measurement on clean carpet, spray with a water mister lightly and allow to dry naturally. This will block the work and ensure a smooth professional finish.
