What Types Of Classes Does Spotlight Offer?
Sewing and craft classes at Spotlight vary depending on the store and the availability of our expert teachers, and are updated according to seasonal events like Christmas. You can look ahead in the calendar to see which classes are coming up at your chosen store. Spotlight has previously hosted lessons such as beginners sewing classes, learning how to use Cricut machines and making Christmas crafts.
Cricut Classes
Cricut classes at Spotlight include lessons to get you started, where you can learn how to set up your Cricut Joy, Explore or Maker machine, download the Design Space software and make some simple projects. For more experienced Cricut machine users, there are classes tailored to using Cricut materials such as Infusible Ink and vinyls in conjunction with the Cricut EasyPress. Participants in these classes have learned how to customise t-shirts, mugs, coasters and tote bags with Cricut Infusible Ink Transfer Sheets and Pens.
Sewing Classes
Sewing classes at Spotlight are often geared towards beginners. If you're new to sewing or always wanted to try, our sewing classes for beginners have you covered! Come along to learn the basics like identifying parts of the sewing machine, the types of stitches, how to thread a sewing machine and fundamental sewing techniques. You can bring along your own sewing machine, or utilise one of the sewing machines in the store.
Sewing & Knitting Community At The Glen
At Spotlight Creative The Glen (Craft, Party, Sew), you can join regular sewing and knitting sessions with local, like-minded creatives. Hosted by our expert Donna, Knitting Community runs every Thursday and Sewing Community every Monday. If you're interested in learning how to knit or sew, or just want to create alongside good company, then book your place at one of our Community sessions. Bring along your current projects, ask Donna any questions you may have, and enjoy a chat with your fellow knitters and sewists!

For Cricut classes, you'll need to bring along your Cricut machine, a laptop/tablet, and a mobile device with an internet connection from which you can hotspot. For sewing classes, it's a great idea to bring along your own machine as well. How much do classes cost?
Our Knitting Community and Sewing Community classes are free of charge, but you will need to make a booking as these sessions are subject to a first come, first served basis. Other classes range in cost from $40 to $50 per session.
How long do classes run for?
Class sessions typically run for 2 to 3 hours. Check the class schedule carefully for dates, times and run times when making your booking. It's also a great idea to create a calendar reminder in case you forget!
