HOW TO MEASURE YOUR WINDOWS FOR CUT TO SIZE BLINDS?

To ensure the perfect fit, measure your windows carefully. Tools needed to measure your windows:

  • Step ladder
  • Steel measuring tape
  • Pencil

Start by looking at your window to decide how you would like your blinds to be installed, Recess Fit or Face Fit. Recess fit is where the blinds are mounted inside the window framing. Face fit is where the blinds are mounted on or above the window frame/architrave.

If you choose a Recess Fit, you will need to ensure that window locks or handles will not obstruct your Blinds. For rooms that require total blockout like bedrooms, a recess fit may not be the best solution as light will show through gaps on either side. For best light Blockout results, choose to Face Fit your Blinds.

Recess Fit Measuring: How to Measure Blinds For Recess Fit

  • Width: Measure the width horizontally at 3 points across to check the window is square. If uneven the narrowest of the 3 measurements is to be used.
  • Height: Measure the height vertically at 3 points to check the window is square. If uneven the shortest of the 3 measurements is to be used.

To ensure the best recess fit for your windows, refer to the below table once the narrowest width has been determined.
