REVERSIBLE MUSLIN BLANKET

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 1 x Mickey Mouse Muslin, White/Pink 150cm x 112cm
- 1 x Mickey Mouse Muslin, White/Blue 150cm x 112cm
- White Cotton wadding
- Pink Homespun for binding - 5 x 5cm wide strips, cut across the width of the fabric
- Blue Homespun for binding - 5 x 5cm wide strips, cut across the width of the fabric
- Sewing machine, Matching thread, Pins, Scissors, Tape Measure
Read all instructions carefully beforecommencing the project.
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 - To make the Binding: Sew 3 pink strips together at short ends, to make one long strip. Do the same with 3 blue strips. Press joins open. Place long pink strip and long blue strip right sides together and stitch down one long side. Press joins open. Fold over a 6mm hem on each long side then fold strip in half lengthwise. You should have one long strip, one side pink, the other side blue, with the edges folded neatly under.
Step 2 - Take 1 x short pink strip and 1 x short blue strip. Place right sides together and stitch down one long side. Press seam and hems as per long strip. Repeat for remaining short strip.
Step 3 - To make the Blanket: Smooth the cotton wadding out on the table. Place the White/Blue muslin right-side up on the wadding and smooth out till nice and flat and straight. Gently flip the wadding over and place the White/Pink muslin right-side up on the wadding. Smooth muslin.
Step 4 - Take 1 x short binding strip and apply to short edge of blanket. Push blanket in towards the seam where the pink joins the blue fabric. Pin in place so that both sides of binding can be sewn at the one time. Repeat with the other short strip.
Step 5 - Take the long binding strip and cut in half so that you have 2 x strips to bind each of the long blanket edges. Apply long strips to blanket in the same way as before, making sure to tuck ends in neatly at the corners.
Step 6 - Stitch the binding to the blanket using a decorative stitch, pink thread on top, blue thread on the bobbin.
