WINNIE THE POOH BOOKMARK RIBBONS

Instructions:

Step 1 - Cut out 4 pieces of your Winnie the pooh fabric - each piece 3.5" x 3.5". Two pieces will create the half square part on the top of the bookmark, one will sit directly underneath that and the fourth will make the back piece.

Step 2 - Cut out 4 pieces of iron on interfacing to the same dimensions and press onto each cotton piece.

Step 3 - Take the two top pieces and lay together with right sides facing. Mark a diagonal line from one corner to the other and stitch along this line with the machine. Cut away the excess on one side of the stitch line - leaving ¼" of seam allowance (make sure you don't cut off the side of the square that you like best!) Fold open the triangle pieces and press seam open, then bring the wrong sides together and press again. Top stitch along the diagonal edge - keeping an even distance from the seamed edge.

Step 4 - Lay the triangle piece down on top of the top square piece with right sides up and pin in place. Lay the back piece on top of this - wrong side up/right sides together and pin again in place through all layers. Ensure all edges are even and will not shift under the machine.

Step 5 - Sew a ¼" seam around all four sides of the square - leaving a gap on one side enough to turn it through.

Step 6 - Clip seams (not too close), turn the bookmark right side out and push out the corners gently. Press well - turning the seam allowances of the opening under to form a straight edge on this side.

Step 7 - Sew a top stitch line around all four sides of the bookmark. This will close the opening, but you can also add a slip stitch to finish this off a little more neatly.
