LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 1 metre, 120-150cm medium to heavy weight upholstery fabric (Main Fabric)
- 40 cms, 120-150cm medium to heavy weight upholstery fabric (Contrast)
- Scissors, matching thread
- Tape measure
- Sewing Machine
- Iron
INSTRUCTIONS
FABRIC BUCKETS
Step 1. Rim: Cut 2 pieces of contrast, 90cm wide x 20cm deep.
Straps:Cut 2 pieces of contrast, 20cm wide x 40cms long.
Base:Cut 1 piece of main fabric in a complete circle with a diameter of 33cms.
Body: Cut 2 pieces of main fabric, as per diagram.
Step 2. With right sides facing pin & sew both sides of body, using a 1.5cm seam allowance. Neaten seams.
Step 3. With right sides facing, pin base to lower body opening, easing to fit. Sew using a 1.5cm seam allowance.
Step 4.Straps: with right sides facing, fold straps in half lengthways, and sew using a 1.5cm seam allowance. Turn to right sides and press.
Step 5.Rim: With right sides facing, pin & sew 2 pieces of rim together along the narrow sides. Fold in half, with wrong sides together and press.
Step 6. Measure in from each body side seam 9cm and pin straps to the wrong side. With rim to the wrong side, pin raw edge around body top, matching seams, and easing a little. Sew rim and handles to body, using a 1.5cm seam allowance.
Step 7. Fold seam to body and stitch to keep flat. Turn to right side and press.
