SPRINKLE AND CANDY MELT CAKE

LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Your favorite cake recipe or use our Roberts everyday cake kits
- Candy Melts
- Vegetable Oil
- Sprinkles (we used Roberts Traditional Party Sprinkle Mix)
- Roberts' Edible Craft lollipop sticks
- Piping bag and small circle nozzle (an alternative could be a ziplock bag with a cut in the corner)
INSTRUCTIONS
Make candy trees
Step 1 - Place lollipop sticks on a sheet of baking paper on a flat surface (oven tray, chopping board)
Step 2 - Melt candy melts in microwave on low, ensure to check and stir every 30 seconds stir
Step 3 - Once melted, add a small amount of vegetable oil in to create a smoother and runny consistency. This will assist to pipe the candy trees
Step 4 - With nozzle fitted transfer to a piping bag or ziplock bag.
Step 5 - Starting from the top of the stick, pipe down in a zig zag motion increasing the size. Stop piping the tree at least two thirds of the way down the stick. Make a variety of sizes and shapes. Repeat with as many coloured candy melts as desired.
Step 6 - Add sprinkles to trees and place in fridge to set
Decorating the cake
Step 1 - Using your hand press sprinkles up against the edge of the cake and on top of the cake. For this step an icing that isn't too sticky would be preferable - we used Over the Top ready made buttercream.
Step 2 - Stick trees into cake, placing the larger and taller trees at the back and the smaller ones at the front
