WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- "Spotlight" 8ply yarns: 1st Colour (C1) Black, 2nd Colour (C2) Slate Blue, 3rd Colour (C3) Green, 4th Colour (C4) Yellow, 5th Colour (C5) Lilac, 6th Colour (C6) Taupe, 7th Colour (C7) Chestnut, 8th Colour (C8) Cream, 9th Colour (C9) Crimson, 10th Colour (C10) Pink, 11th Colour (C11) Aqua, 12th Colour (C12) Grey.
- 1 pair each 4mm knitting needles or size required to give correct tension.
- A 4mm crochet hook.
- Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure.
SIZE
Finished Width (approx): 105 cm
Finished Length (approx): 180 cm
TENSION
21 sts x 44 rows to 10cm over garter st, using 4mm needles.
INSTRUCTIONS
HORIZONTAL HALF SQUARE (make 18)
Using 4mm needles and C1, cast on 51 sts.
Knit 2 rows garter st (1st row is RS).
Using C2, knit in garter st until work measures 12cm from beg, working last row on WS.
Using C1, knit 2 rows garter st.
Cast off loosely.
With RS facing and using 4mm needles and C1, knit up 26 sts evenly along one side edge.
Knit 1 row.
Cast off loosely.
Rep along rem side edge.
SQUARE (knitted sideways)
Using 4mm needles and C1, cast on 51 sts.
Knit 2 rows garter st (1st row is RS).
Using C3, knit in garter st, until work measures 12.5cm from beg, working last row on WS.
Using C4, knit in garter st until work measures 24.5cm from beg, working last row on WS.
Using C1, knit 2 rows garter st.
Cast off loosely.
With RS facing and using 4mm needles and C1, knit up 53 sts evenly along one side edge.
Knit 1 row.
Cast off loosely.
Rep along rem side edge.
Make a further 3 squares in same manner.
Make a further 2 squares in same manner, using C5 in place of C3 and C6 in place of C4.
Make a further 4 squares in same manner, using C7 in place of C3 and C8 in place of C4.
Make a further 4 squares in same manner, using C9 in place of C3 and C10 in place of C4.
Make a further 4 squares in same manner, using C11 in place of C3 and C12 in place of C4.
18 squares in total.
VERTICAL HALF SQUARES (make 2)
Using 4mm needles and C1, cast on 24 sts.
Knit 2 rows garter st (1st row is RS).
Using C5, knit in garter st until work measures 12.5cm from beg, working last row on WS.
Using C6, knit in garter st until work measures 24.5cm from beg, working last row on WS.
Using C1, knit 2 rows garter st.
Cast off loosely.
FINISHING
With WS of each square and half square tog, using 4mm hook, C1 and dc, join into 7 strips, using diagram as a guide for colour placement.
With WS of strips tog, using 4mm hook, C1 and dc, join strips. Join C1 in any st and using 4mm hook and C1, work 4 rows dc evenly around outer edges of Blanket, taking care to keep work flat and working 3dc in each corner.
