Tension

16 sts x 8 rows to 10 cm using 6 mm hook over main pattern (set of 3tr, 1ch = 4sts)

Special Abbreviations

yarn-over-slipstitch = yo-slst - creates 3 loops, with back loop to be third loop when looking at your work after turning.


Note: Band worked sideways with main body worked onto side band. Include ch-sps in counting stitches.




Back

Band -

Using MC and 5 mm hook, make 13ch.

1st Row (RS) - 1 yo-slst in 2nd ch from hook, 1 yo-slst in each ch to end ... 12 sts.

2nd Row(WS)- 1ch , 1 yo-slst in back loop of each st to end ... 12 sts.

Rep 2nd Row until 61 (67-73) rows have been worked, DO NOT fasten off, turn work and crochet along one side of band, 1ch, 1dc in each row to end ... 61 (69-73) sts, fasten off.


Body -

Using 6 mm hook and C1, draw up a loop into side of first dc of last row, then working from left to right, commence patt as follows:

1st Row (WS) - 3ch (counts as first tr) 2tr in same st, (sk 2sts, 1ch, 3tr in next st), rep to last st ... 61 (67-73) sts or 21 (23-25) sets of 3tr with 1ch, turn.

2nd Row (RS) - 4ch (counts as 1tr and 1ch-sp), (3tr in next 1ch-sp, 1ch), rep until last ch-sp worked, 1tr in last tr ... 61 (67-73) sts or 20 (22-24) sets of 3tr with 1ch plus 2tr at end of row, turn.

Last 2 rows form patt, rep patt following colour sequence below:

Band -

Using MC, follow as back bands, work 19 (22-25) rows, DO NOT fasten off, cont onto side of band. Work one dc into each row ... 19 (22-25) sts, commence patt as set out for back, starting at 1st Row using C1, work 1st & 2nd Row ... 19 (22-25) sts or 7 (8-9) sets of (3tr, 1ch).

Last 2 rows form patt, rep patt, foll colour sequence as for back, fasten off.


Sleeves (make 2)

Using MC, follow as back bands, work 43 (43-49) rows, DO NOT fasten off, cont onto side of band, work one dc into each row ... 43 (43-49) sts, commence patt as set out for back, starting at 1st Row using C2, work 1st & 2nd row ... 43 (43, 49) sts or 15 (15-17) sets of (3tr, 1ch).

Last 2 rows form patt, rep patt following colour sequence below:

Assembly

With RIGHT sides facing, join shoulders using a double crochet stitch. With RIGHT sides facing, pin and join sleeve head around armhole between markers. With RIGHT sides facing pin and join sleeve and side seams.


Front Edging

1st Row (RS) - Using MC and 5mm hook, draw up a loop at first stitch on bottom left-hand band, 1ch, 1dc in each st of band, 3dc in side of 1st row, 2dc in side of 2nd row (= 5dc over 2 rows), rep along left front, 1dc in each st of neck, 5dc over each set of 2 rows of right front, 1dc in each st of band, turn.
2nd Row (Buttonhole Row) - 1ch, 1dc in each st to last 30 (30-32) sts, *2ch, sk 2sts, 1dc in next 10 (10, 11) sts, rep from * once more, 2ch, sk 2sts, 1dc in last 4sts, turn.

3rd Row - 1ch, 1dc in each st (work 2 in 2ch-sp rather than ch), cont to end, fasten off.


Finishing

Weave in loose ends, sew buttons to suit buttonholes.
