Tension

21 sts x 30 rows to 10 cm over stocking st, using 4 mm needles.

Instructions

Note: Carry colour not in use, loosely up along side of work until required again.


Back & Front (alike)

Yoke - worked sideways (make 2)

Using 4.50 mm needles and M, cast on 63 (65-67-69) sts.

Beg Patt -

1st row (RS) - K1, * sl 1, K1, rep from * to end.

2nd row - Purl, change to C.

3rd row - Sl 1, * K1, sl 1, rep from * to end.

4th row - Purl, change to M.

Rows 1 to 4 incl form patt.

Cont in patt until work measures 8 (8.5-9-9.5) cm from beg, working last row on WS.

Shape Neck -

1st row (RS) - Cast off 6 sts, patt to end ... 57 (59-61-63) sts.

Keeping patt correct, dec one st at neck edge in every row until 53 (55-57-59) sts rem.

Cont in patt until work measures 15.5 (16.5-17.5-19.5) cm from last dec, working last row on WS.

Keeping patt correct, inc one st at neck edge in every row until there are 57 (59-61-63) sts.

Using appropriate colour ...

Next row (RS) - Cast on 6 sts, patt to end ... 63 (65-67-69) sts.

Keeping patt correct, cont until work measures 8 (8.5-9-9.5) cm from end of neck shaping, working last row on WS.

Cast off.


** Beg Body -

Tie a coloured thread in centre of lower edge of one yoke piece.

Using 4mm needles and M, cast on 5 sts, turn, so needle is now in your right hand. Holding needle, knit up 38 (44-48-54) sts evenly along lower edge of first yoke piece to coloured thread, then knit up 42 (48-54-60) sts from coloured thread to end, turn, cast on 5 sts ... 90 (102-112-124) sts.


Beg Patt -

1st row (WS) - K1, (P1, K1) 23 (26-29-32) times, K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.

2nd row - P1, (K1, P1) 21 (24-26-29) times, knit to end.

3rd row - K1, (P1, K1) 23 (26-29-32) times, P1, * K1, P1, rep from * to end.

4th row - K1, (P1, K1) 21 (24-26-29) times, knit to end.

Rows 1 to 4 incl form patts.

Cont in patts until work measures 19cm from armholes, working last row on WS and inc 0 (0-2-2) sts evenly across last row ... 90 (102-114-126) sts.


Lower Band

1st row (RS) - K2, * P2, K2, rep from * to end.

2nd row - P2, * K2, P2, rep from * to end.

Last 2 rows form rib.

Cont in rib until rib measures 15 cm, ending with a 2nd row.

Cast off loosely in rib. **

Rep from ** to ** on rem yoke piece.


Armhole Bands

Using mattress st, join shoulder seams. With RS facing, using 4 mm needles and C, knit up 102 (106-110-114) sts evenly along first armhole edge. Work in rib as for lower band of Back and Front, beg with a 2nd row, until armhole band measures 10cm, ending with a 2nd row. Cast off loosely in rib. Rep on rem armhole edge.


Neckband

Using 4 mm needles and C, cast on 19 sts.

1st row (RS) - * K2, P2, rep from * to last 3 sts, K3.

2nd row - P3, * K2, P2, rep from * to end.

Last 2 rows form rib.

Cont in rib until neckband fits (slightly stretched), around neck edge ending with a 2nd row.

Cast off loosely in rib.


Finishing

DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st, join side seams. Sew side edges of armhole bands to 5 sts cast on at armholes, then join rem armhole band seams. Sew neckband in position, placing the 3 rib sts to neck edge, beg and ending at centre back neck. Join ends of neckband tog.
