INSTRUCTIONS

ABBREVIATIONS

HELMET

Note:Helmet is worked in rounds, unless otherwise stated, donot join at the end of each round, but place a marker andwork in continuous rounds.

Using 4.00mm hook and MC, make 2ch.

Round 1: Miss 1ch, 8dc into next ch.

Round 2: 2dc in each st to end ... 16sts.

Round 3: * 2dc, in next st, 1dc in next st, rep from * to end ... 24 sts.

Round 4: * 2dc, in next st, 1dc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * to end ... 32 sts.

Round 5: * 2dc, in next st, 1dc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * to end ... 40 sts.

Round 6: 1dc in each st to end.

Round 7: * 2dc, in next st, 1dc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * to end ... 48 sts.

Round 8: 1dc in each st to end.

Round 9: * 2dc, in next st, 1dc in each of next 5 sts, rep from * to end ... 56 sts.

Round 10: 1dc in each st to end.

Cont inc in this manner in foll alt rows and working extra st between each inc, until there are 104 sts. Work 1 round dc.

Divide for Face Opening

Note:This section is worked in rows not rounds.

Next Row: 1dc in each of next 70 sts,turn.

Next Row: 1ch, 1dc in each of next 70 sts,turn.

Rep last row 16 times, DO NOT TURN at the end of last row.

Neck Section of Helmet

Note: This section is worked in continuous rounds.

Make 30ch, working across sts of beg of rows, work 1dc in each st to end.

Cont working in rounds of dc until neck section is approx. 8cm from where ch was made.

Fasten off.

With RS facing, join yarn to any st of face opening with a sl st, and work 1 round dc evenly around edge of face opening, sl st in dc at beg.

Fasten off.

DISC (Make 2)

Using 3.00mm hook and C1, make 2ch.

Round 1: Miss 1ch, 8dc into next ch, sl st in top of dc at beg.

Round 2: 1ch, 2dc in each st to end, sl st in top of dc at beg ... 16sts.

Round 3: 1ch, * 2dc, in next st, 1dc in next st, rep from * to end, sl st in top of dc at beg ... 24 sts.

Round 4: 1ch, * 2dc, in next st, 1dc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * to end, sl st in top of dc at beg ... 32 sts.

Round 5: 1ch, * 2dc, in next st, 1dc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * to end, sl st in top of dc at beg ... 40 sts.

Round 6: 1ch, * 2dc, in next st, 1dc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * to end, sl st in top of dc at beg ... 48 sts.

Round 7: 1ch, * 2dc in each of next 4 sts, 1dc in each of next 20 sts, rep from * once, sl st in top of dc at beg.

Fasten off.

ROCKETS (Make 2)

Using 3.00mm hook and MC, make 2ch.

Row 1: Miss 1ch, 2dc in next ch.

Row 2: 1ch, 2dc in each st ... 4 sts.

Row 3: 1ch, 1dc in each st to end. Rep Row 3 once.

Row 5: 1ch, 2dc in first dc, 1dc in each st to last st, 2dc in last dc ... 6 sts.

Rep Row 5 twice ... 10 sts.

Row 8: 1ch, sl st over first 4 sts, 1ch, 1dc in same st as last st st, 1dc in each of next 3 sts,turn.

Row 9: 1ch, 1dc in each of next 4 sts.

Fasten off.

LARGE STAR

Using 3.00mm hook and C2, make 2ch.

Row 1: Miss 1ch, 10dc in next ch, sl st in dc at beg.

Row 2: 1ch, 2dc in each st to end, sl st in dc at beg ... 20 sts.

Round 3: 1ch, * 2dc, in next st, 1dc in next st, rep from * to end, sl st in top of dc at beg ... 30 sts.

Each point of the Star is worked in rows.

First Point

Row 1: 1ch, 1dc in each of next 6 sts, turn.

Row 2: 1ch, 1dc in each st to end.

Row 3: 1ch, Dec over first 2 sts, 1dc in each st to last 2 sts, dec over last 2 sts ... 4 sts.

Rep rows 2 and 3 once, then row 2 once ... 2 sts.

Row 7: 1ch, dec over 2 sts.

Fasten off.

Second Point

** With RS facing, join yarn to sale st as last dc of First Point was worked with a sl st.

Work Row 1 to end of First Point.

Rep from ** 3 times ... 5 points.

SMALL STAR

Using 3.00mm hook and C2, make 2ch.

Row 1: Miss 1ch, 10dc in next ch, sl st in dc at beg.

Each point of the Star is worked in rows.

First Point

Row 1: 1ch, 1dc in each of next 2 sts, turn.

Row 2: 1ch, 1dc in each of 2 sts.

Row 3: 1ch, dec over 2 sts.

Fasten off.

Second Point

** With RS facing, join yarn to sale st as last dc of First Point was worked with a sl st.

Work Row 1 to end of First Point. Rep from ** 3 times ... 5 points.

TO MAKE UP

Sew in ends.

Sew a Rocket to each Disc, using C2 and straight sts embroider flames at the base of the rocket. Sew each disc to each side of the Helmet.

Sew Stars to the back of the Helmet. Using C2 and straight sts, embroider star trails to each star, using picture as a guide.
