SUMMER SHADOW TOP
Level: Intermediate
What You'll Need:
- Moda Vera Shadow 8ply 100g x 3 (4-5-6) balls
- 1 pair 4mm knitting needles and 4mm circular needle (60cm) or size required to give correct tension.
- 2 stitch-holders.
- Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure.
Measurements
Size S (M-L-XL)
To Fit Bust: 85 (95-105-115) cm
Actual Size (approx): 96 (106-116-126) cm
Length (approx): 49 (50-51-52) cm
Tension
18 sts and 35 rows to 10cm over patt, using 4mm needles.
INSTRUCTIONS
BACK AND FRONT (both alike)
Using pair 4mm needles, cast on 89 (97-107-115) sts.
Beg Rib - 1st row (RS) - K2, P1, K1, rep from to last st, K1.
2nd row - K1, P1, K1, rep from to end.
3rd row - As 1st row.
Beg Patt - 1st row (WS) - Purl.
2nd row - Purl.
3rd row - Purl.
4th row (RS) - K2, yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, rep from to last st, K1.
5th row - Purl.
6th row - Purl.
7th row - Purl.
8th row (RS) - K2, yfwd, K2tog, rep from to last st, K1.
Rows 1 to 8 incl form patt.
Cont in patt until work measures 28cm from beg, working last row on WS.
Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg of armholes as there is no armhole shaping.
Cont in patt until work measures approx 15 (16-17-18) cm from coloured threads, ending with a 1st or 5th patt row on WS.
Shape Neck - Next row (RS) - P38 (42-46-49), turn.
Keeping patt correct, cont on these 38 (42-46-49) sts and cast off 2 sts at neck edge in next row, then in every foll alt row until 26 (30-34-37) sts rem.
Cont in patt without shaping until work measures approx 21 (22-23-24) cm from coloured threads, ending with a 1st or 5th patt row.
Shape Shoulder - Work purl rows for remainder, cast off loosely 9 (10-11-12) sts at beg of next row and foll alt row. Work 1 row. Cast off rem 8 (10-12-13) sts loosely.
Slip next 13 (13-15-17) sts onto a stitch-holder and leave.
With RS facing, join yarn to rem 38 (42-46-49) sts and purl to end.
Keeping patt correct, cast off 2 sts at neck edge in every foll alt row until 26 (30-34-37) sts rem.
Cont in patt without shaping until work measures approx 21 (22-23-24) cm from coloured threads, ending with a 1st or 5th patt row.
Work 1 row.
Shape Shoulder - Complete as for other shoulder.
Neckband
Using mattress st, join shoulder seams. With RS facing and using 4mm circular needle, knit up 18 sts evenly along left front neck, knit across sts from front stitch-holder, knit up 18 sts evenly along right front neck, knit up 18 sts evenly along right back neck, knit across sts from back stitch-holder, then knit up 18 sts evenly along left back neck ... 98 (98-102-106) sts.
1st round - Purl.
2nd round - K1, P1, rep from to end.
Rep 2nd round until neckband measures 2cm.
Cast off loosely in rib.
Arm Bands
Join side seams to coloured threads. With RS facing and using 4mm circular needle, knit up 96 (100-104-108) sts evenly between coloured threads placed for armhole.
1st round - Purl.
2nd round - K1, P1, rep from to end.
Rep 2nd round until armband measures 2cm.
Cast off loosely in rib.
Finishing
