WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Width at widest point (approx) cm 130
15 sts to 10 cm in width over garter st, using 5.50mm needles.
M1 = make one st by picking up loop that lies before next st, place on left hand needle and knit into back of loop.
SHAWL (beg at centre of top edge)
Using 5.50mm needles, cast on 3 sts.
Knit 7 rows garter st, then knit up 3 sts along the purl bumps on left side edge, then knit up 3 sts along the cast on edge ... 9 sts.
Foundation row (WS) - K3, yfwd, K1, place a coloured thread or marker on next st (centre st), knit centre st, K1, yfwd, K3.
Beg Patt - 1st row (RS) - K3, yfwd, knit to centre st, M1, K1 (centre st), M1, knit to last 3 sts, yfwd, K3.
2nd row - K3, yfwd, knit to last 3 sts, yfwd, K3. Rep 1st and 2nd rows twice more, then 1st row once.
8th row (WS) - K3, yfwd, K1, * yfwd, K2tog, rep from * to centre st, K1 (centre st), ** K2tog, yfwd, rep from ** to last 4 sts, K1, yfwd, K3.
Rows 1 to 8 incl form patt. Cont in patt until work measures approx 45cm (or depth desired) from beg, ending with an 8th row. Rep 1st and 2nd rows 3 times.
Cast off row - * K2tog tbl, slip st back onto left hand needle, rep from * to end.
Fasten off. Sew in all ends.
