Crochet Flower Crown Project

What You'll Need:

  • Moda Vera Koosh Cotton Blend 100g: 1 ball Blush (C1), 1 ball Forrest (C2), 1 ball Ocean (C3), 1 ball Vanilla (C4), 1 ball Purple (C5), 1 ball Ochre (C6)
  • 5.5 mm hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • 2x Stitch markers
  • Pins
  • Tape measure
  • Craft glue (optional)

Headband Tension

6 stx 6 rows of dc = 4 x 4 cm

Headband Dimensions

30 cm x 4 cm (excluding ties)

ch - chain

dc - double crochet

htr- half treble

tr - treble

slst - slip stitch

st/s - stitch/es

rep - repeat

Note: This project is made up of a base headband, which is adorned with flowers and vines. It can be made as a 'pick and mix' Pick how many flowers to make, and mix the colours as you please! For this reason, colours are listed in materials used but not specified to a specific part of the pattern.


Headband

With 5.5mm hook, make 40ch,

1st round: 3dc into 2nd ch from hook, mark 1st dc, dc in next 37ch, 3dc in last ch, mark 1st dc, rotate your work so you are now working into the other side of chain row, dc in next 37ch, do not join... 80 sts

2nd round: 2dc into marked st and next 2 sts, move marker to 1st st, dc in next 37sts, rep from do not join ... 86 sts

3rd round: [2dc in next st, dc in next] 3 times, move marker to 1st st, dc in next 37 sts, rep from ... 92 sts

Fasten off.

Headband ties: Rejoin yarn to 4th stitch after marker, make 60 ch, fasten off. Repeat on other side.


Leaf Vine

With 5.5mm hook, make 5ch,

1st leaf: dc into 2nd ch from hook, htr into next st, tr into next 2 sts, slst into next st ... 5 sts

2nd leaf: 8ch, dc into 2nd ch from hook, htr into next st, tr into next 2 sts, slst into next st... 5 sts, 3 ch

repeat 2nd leaf until you have reached desired length

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.


Small Flower

With 5.5mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st round - 4ch, slst into ring, rep from 5 times ... 6 petals.

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Variation: Work 1st round repeat 4 times for a 5-petal flower


Rolled Rose

With 5.5mm hook, make 20ch,

1st Row: dc into 2nd ch from hook, and each ch along, turn ... 19sts

2nd Row: sl st into 1st st, 4dc in next st, sl st in next st, rep from 8 times, slst into last st ... 9 petals

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Variation: Change colour for 2nd row.

To make up rose, roll lengthwise, and stitch along 1st row. Roll tighter for a rose bud, and looser for a blooming rose, leave a tail for sewing.


To Make Up

Position and pin leaves and flowers until you have your desired layout. Begin to sew all pieces in place. Sew in all ends. If desired, a mixed of craft glue and water can be used to stiffen the leaves or any flowers that may need it.
