WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • '4 Seasons' Pure Wool Naturals 8 ply 100g: 2 balls x Colour 1 (C1), 1 x ball Colour 2 (C2).
  • A 5mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure.

INSTRUCTIONS

5th round - 2ch, 2tr in same st, 1tr in each of next 3 sts, * 2tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around, sl st into tr at beg ... 55 sts.

6th round - 2ch, 2tr in same st, 1tr in each of next 4 sts, * 2tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around, sl st into tr at beg ... 66 sts.

7th round - 2ch, 2tr in same st, 1tr in each of next 5 sts, * 2tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around, sl st into tr at beg ... 77 sts.

8th round - 2ch, 2tr in same st, 1tr in each of next 6 sts, * 2tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 6 sts, rep from * around, sl st into tr at beg ... 88 sts.

9th - 18th rounds incl - 2ch, 1tr in same st, 1tr in each st around, sl st into tr at beg.

19th round - 1ch, 1dc in same st, 1dc in each st around, sl st into dc at beg.

20th round - Rep 19th rnd. Fasten off. Turn inside out.

INNER EARS (make 2)

Using C2 and 5mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st row - 3ch (counts as 1tr), 5tr in ring, turn ... 6 sts.

2nd row - 3ch, 1tr in same st, 2tr in each st to end, turn ... 12 sts.

3rd row - 3ch, 1tr in same st, 1tr in next st, * 2tr in next st, 1tr in next st, rep from * to end ... 18 sts. Fasten off.

OUTER EARS (make 2)

Using C1 and 5mm hook, work as for inner ears, but do not fasten off.

4th row - 3ch, 1tr in same st, 1tr in each of next 2 sts, * 2tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 2 sts, rep from * to end ... 24 sts. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Stitch an inner ear to an outer ear with WS tog. Sew ears to hat.

INFINITY SCARF

Using C1 and 5mm hook, make 270 ch, sl st into ch at beg, being careful not to twist ch.

1st round - 2ch (does not count as a stitch), 1tr in same st, 1tr in each st around, sl st into tr at beg.

2nd - 10th rounds incl - Rep 1st round. Fasten off. Turn inside out.

MUZZLE

Using C2 and 5mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st row - 3ch (counts as 1tr), 7tr in ring, turn ... 8 sts.

2nd row - 3ch, 1tr in same st, 2tr in each st to end, turn ... 16 sts.

3rd row - 3ch, 1tr in same st, 1tr in next st, * 2tr in next st, 1tr in next st, rep from * to end, turn ... 24 sts.

4th row - 2ch, 1tr in each of next 3 sts, 2tr in next st, * 1tr in each of next 2 sts, 2tr in next st, rep from * to last 4 sts, 1tr in each of next 3 sts, 1dc in last st ... 30 sts. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

LIP

Using C2 and 5mm hook, make 6ch.

1st round - 3tr in 4th ch from hook, 1tr in next ch, 7tr in last ch, rotate to work on opposite side of base ch, 1tr in next st, 3tr in same ch as 3tr at beg, sl st into 3rd of 3ch at beg ... 16 sts. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

NOSE

Using C1 and 5mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st row - 3ch, 6tr in ring. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Sew muzzle to scarf, letting the top edge of the muzzle protrude past the edge of the scarf by about 1cm. Sew lip underneath muzzle, leaving a gap to suggest a mouth (as pictured). Sew nose on to muzzle and embroider line from nose to mouth as pictured. Sew in ends.
