To work tension square, using 4.00mm hook, make 29ch.

1st row - Starting 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in ea ch to end, turn.

2nd row - 1ch, 1dc in ea st to end, turn.

3rd row - (1dc, 3ch) in first st (counts as 1tr, 2ch throughout), * sk next 2 sts, 1tr in ea of next 2 sts, 2ch, rep from * to last 3 sts, sk 2 sts, 1tr in last st, turn.

4th row - 1ch, 1dc in ea st to end, turn.

Rep last 2 rows for further 16 rows. Fasten off.

Back and front alike

Using 4.00mm hook, make 93 (113) ch.

1st row - Starting 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in ea ch to end, turn ... 92 (112) sts.

2nd row - 1ch, 1dc in ea st to end, turn.

Rep last row twice.

Next row - (1dc, 3ch) in first st (counts as 1tr, 2ch throughout), * sk 2sts, 1tr in ea of next 2 sts, 2ch, rep from * to last 3 sts, sk 2 sts, 1tr in last st, turn.

Next row - 1ch, 1dc in ea st to end, turn.

Last 2 rows form patt.

Rep last 2 rows until work measures 60 (62) cm from beg. Fasten off.

Sleeves

Using 4.00mm hook, make 69 (77) ch.

1st row - Starting 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in ea ch to end, turn ... 68 (76) sts.

2nd row - 1ch, 1dc in ea st to end, turn.

Rep last row 2 times.

Next row - (1dc, 3ch) in first st (counts as 1tr, 2ch throughout), * sk 2sts, 1tr in ea of next 2 sts, 2ch, rep * to last 3 sts, sk 2 sts, 1tr in last st, turn.

Next row - 1ch, 1dc in ea st to end, turn.

Rep last 2 rows until work measures 42 (44) cm from beg. Fasten off.

Finishing

Join shoulder seams leaving the centre 44 sts unseamed for neck opening. Place markers 20 (22) cm from shoulder seam, sew top of sleeves between markers, sew side and sleeve seams. Sew in ends.
