WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 'Milford' Regency 50g x 2 (3-3-4) balls: 1st Colour (C1) Red, 2 (2-3-3) balls, 2nd Colour (C2) Green, 2 (2-3-3) balls, 3rd Colour (C3) Hot Pink, 2 (2-3-3) balls, 4th Colour (C4) Yellow and 1 ball, 5th Colour (C5) White.
  • A 3.25mm and 3mm crochet hook, or sizes required to give correct tension.
  • 6 buttons.
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

To Fit Underarm cm: 60 (Size 4), 65 (Size 6), 70 (Size 8), 75 (Size 10)
Actual Size (approx) cm: 68 (Size 4), 73 (Size 6), 78 (Size 8), 83 (Size 10)
Length cm: 37 (Size 4), 41(Size 6), 45 (Size 8), 49 (Size 10)
Sleeve Length cm: 28 (Size 4), 33(Size 6), 38 (Size 8), 41 (Size 10)

TENSION

21 sts and 20 rows to 10cm over patt, using a 3.25mm hook.

INSTRUCTIONS

SPECIAL ABBREVIATION

Dc2tog =(draw up a loop in next st) twice, yoh and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Dc below =1dc in sp between 2 tr groups in 2nd round, drawing up first loop to height of current round.

BACK

Using 3.25mm hook and C1, make 72 (78-82-88) ch.

Foundation row (RS) - 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, * 1tr in next ch, 1dc in next ch, rep from * to end, turn ... 71 (77-81-87) sts.

Beg Patt -

Using C1,1st row- 3ch (counts as 1tr), * 1dc in next tr, 1tr in next dc, rep from * to end, turn.

2nd row - 1ch, 1dc in first tr, * 1tr in next dc, 1dc in next tr, rep from * to end, turn. Last 2 rows form patt for rem. Cont in patt until work measures 3cm from beg. Break off C1.

Using C2, cont in patt until work measures 6cm from beg. Break off C2.

Using C3, cont until work measures 12cm from beg. Break off C3.

Using C4, cont in patt until work measures 16cm from beg. Break off C4.

Using C1, cont in patt until work measures 19cm from beg. Break off C1.

Using C5, cont in patt until work measures 21cm from beg. Break off C5. Last 6 stripes form stripe patt for rem of Back.

Keeping stripe patt correct, cont until work measures 24 (27-29-31) cm from beg. Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg of armholes as there is no armhole shaping. Cont in patt and stripes until work measures 13 (14-16-18) cm from coloured threads.

Shape Shoulders -

1st row - Slip st across first 13 (14-15-16) sts, patt to last 13 (14-15-16) sts, turn.

2nd row - Patt 45 (49-51-55), turn.

3rd row - Slip st across first 12 (13-14-15) sts, patt to last 12 (13-14-15) sts, fasten off.

LEFT FRONT

Using 3.25mm hook and C1, make 34 (36-38-42) ch.

Foundation row (RS) - 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, * 1tr in next ch, 1dc in next ch, rep from * to end, turn ... 33 (35-37-41) sts.

Beg Patt -

Work in patt as for Back, until work measures 24 (27-29-31) cm from beg. Tie a coloured thread at end of last row to mark beg of armhole.

Cont in patt until there are 10 rows less than Back to beg of shoulder shaping, thus working last row on WS,

Shape Neck

1st row (RS) - Patt to last 6 (6-6-8) sts, turn ... 27 (29-31-33) sts.

2nd row - Patt to end.

3rd row - Patt to last 2 sts, dc2tog ... 26 (28-30-32) sts. Rep 2nd and 3rd rows twice ... 25 (27-29-31) sts. Work 3 rows patt.

Next row - Sl st across first 13 (14-15-16) sts, patt to end.

Next row - Patt 12 (13-14-15). Fasten off.

RIGHT FRONT

Using 3.25mm hook and C3, make 34 (36-38-42) ch.

Foundation row (RS) - 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, * 1tr in next ch, 1dc in next ch, rep from * to end, turn ...33 (35-37-41) sts.

Beg Patt -

Work in patt as for Back, until work measures 20cm from beg. Fasten off. Using C4 for rem, work in patt as for Back, until work measures 24 (27-29-31) cm from beg. Tie a coloured thread at end of last row to mark beg of armhole.

Cont in patt until there are 10 rows less than Back to beg of shoulder shaping, thus working last row on WS,

Shape Neck -

1st row (RS) - Sl st across first 6 (6-6-8) sts, patt to end ... 27 (29-31-33) sts.

2nd row - Dc2tog, patt to end ... 26 (28-30-32) sts.

3rd row - Patt to end.

Rep 2nd and 3rd rows twice ... 25 (27-29-31) sts. Work 3 rows patt.

Next row - Patt across first 13 (14-15-16) sts, turn.

Next row - Patt across first 12 (13-14-15) sts. Fasten off.

LEFT SLEEVE

Using 3.25mm hook and C3, make 36 (38-42-48) ch.

Foundation row (RS) - 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, * 1tr in next ch, 1dc in next ch, rep from * to end, turn ... 35 (37-41-47) sts.

Beg Patt -

Work 5 rows patt and as for Back.

Using C2 for rem,6th row - 1ch, (1dc, 1tr) in first dc, * 1dc in next tr, 1tr in next dc, rep from * to last 2 sts, 1dc in next tr, (1tr, 1dc) in last dc ... 37 (39-43-49) sts. Work 5 rows patt.

12th row - 1ch, 1dc, 1tr in first dc, * 1dc in next tr, 1tr in next dc, rep from * to last 2 sts, 1dc in next tr, (1tr, 1dc) in last st ... 39 (41-45-51) sts.

Keeping patt and inc correct for rem, inc one st at each end of every foll 6th row until there are 51 (55-63-71) sts. Cont without shaping until sleeve measures 28 (33-38-41) cm from beg. Fasten off.

RIGHT SLEEVE

Using 3.25mm hook and C1, make 36 (38-42-48) ch. Work as for Left Sleeve, working in stripe patt as for Back.

POCKET MOTIFS

First Pocket Motif -

Using 3mm hook and C3, make 6ch, join with a sl st in first ch to make a ring.

1st round - 3ch, 1tr in ring, (1ch, 2tr in ring) 7 times, 1ch, sl st in 3rd ch at beg, sl st in next tr, using C1 sl st in ch sp.

2nd round - 3ch, (1tr, 1ch, 2tr) in same ch sp, (2tr, 1ch, 2tr) in each ch sp to end, sl st in 3rd ch at beg, sl st in next tr, sl st in ch sp.

3rd round - 3ch, 5tr in same ch sp, 6tr in each ch sp to end, using C4, sl st in 3rd ch at beg.

4th round - 1ch, 1dc in same st as sl st, 1dc in each of next 5tr, * dc below, 1dc in each of next 6tr, rep from * to end, dc below in sp before turning ch, using C2 sl st in first dc.

5th round - 3ch, 1tr in next dc, * 2dtr in next dc, 1ch, 2dtr in next dc, 1tr in each of next 3dc, 1htr in each of next 2dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, 1htr in each of next 2dc, 1tr in each of next 3dc, rep from * to last 12dc, 2dtr in next dc, 1ch, 2dtr in next dc, 1tr in each of next 3dc, 1htr in each of next 2dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, 1htr in each of next 2dc, 1tr in next dc, sl st in 3rd ch at beg.

6th round - 3ch, * 1tr in each st to corner ch sp, (1dtr, 1ch, 1dtr) in ch sp, rep from * 3 times, 1tr in each tr to end, sl st in 3rd ch at beg. Fasten off.

Second Pocket Motif -

Work as for First Pocket Motif, Using C5 in place of C2.

NECKBAND

Using a flat seam, join shoulder seams. With RS facing using 3mm hook and C3, work 1 row dc evenly around neck edge, inc and dec where necessary to keep work flat. Cont in dc until neckband measures 3cm from beg. Fasten off.

LEFT FRONT BAND

With RS facing and using 3mm hook and C4 work 1 row dc evenly along left front edge including end of neckband. Cont in dc until Front Band measures 3cm. Fasten off.

Mark position of 6 buttons on front band, beg and ending 1cm below top of front band and 1cm above lower edge of front band.

RIGHT FRONT BAND

With RS facing and using 3mm hook and C5 work 1 row dc evenly along right front edge including end of neckband. Cont in dc until Front Band measures 1.5cm.

Next row - Work in dc until level with first button marker on Left Front Band, * 2ch, miss 2dc, work in dc until level with next button marker, rep from * to last button marker, 2ch, miss 2dc, work in dc to end, turn.

Cont in dc until Right Front Band measures 3cm from beg, working 1dc in each of 2ch in next row. Fasten off.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using a flat seam, sew in sleeves evenly between coloured threads, placing centre of sleeves to shoulder seams. Join side and sleeve seams. Sew pockets in position as pictured. Sew on buttons.
