2nd row - K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.

Rep 1st and 2nd rows until work measures 5cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row and dec one st in centre of last row ... 62 (66-70- 78-86-94) sts.

Change to 8mm needles. **

BEG BOX ST

1st row (RS) - K2, * P2, K2, rep from * to end.

2nd row - P2, * K2, P2, rep from * to end.

3rd row - P2, * K2, P2, rep from * to end.

4th row - K2, * P2, K2, rep from * to end

Rows 1 to 4 incl form box st.

Cont in box st until work measures 36 (37- 38-39-40-41) cm from beg, working last row on WS.

SHAPE ARMHOLES

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows ... 58 (62- 66-74-82-90) sts.

Cont in box st until work measures 48 (50- 52-54-56-58) cm from beg, working last row on WS.

SHAPE BACK NECK

Next row (RS) - K17 (18-19-22-25-28), cast off next 24 (26-28-30-32-34) sts, knit to end.

Cont in stocking st (beg with a purl row) on these 17 (18-19-22-25-28) sts until work measures 52 (54-56-58-60-62) cm from beg, working last row on WS. Cast off loosely.

With WS facing, join yarn to rem 17 (18-19- 22-25-28) sts and complete to correspond with other side of neck.

FRONT

Work as for Back to **.

Cont in patt until work measures 42 (44-44- 46-46-48) cm from beg, working last row on WS.

SHAPE NECK

Next row (RS) - K20 (21-22-25-28-31), cast off next 18 (20-22-24-26-28) sts, knit to end.

Cont in stocking st (beg with a purl row) on these 20 (21-22-25-28-31) sts and dec one st at neck edge in next row, then in every foll alt row 3 times in all ... 17 (18-19-22-25-28) sts.

Cont without shaping until work measures 52 (54-56-58-60-62) cm from beg, ending with a purl row.

Cast off loosely.

With WS facing, join yarn to rem 20 (21-22- 25-28-31) sts and complete to correspond with other side of neck.

SLEEVES

Using 7mm needles, cast on 39 (43-43-45- 45-49) sts.

BEG RIB

Work in rib as for lower band of Back until work measures 7cm from beg, ending with a 1st row.

Next row (WS) - Rib 2 (4-4-2-2-1), inc in next st, * rib 2, inc in next st, rep from * to last 3 (5-5-3-3-2) sts, rib 3 (5-5-3-3-2) ... 51 (55-55-59-59-65) sts.

Change to 8mm needles.

BEG LACE PATT

1st row (RS) - K17 (19-19-21-21-24), work 1st row of lace patt from * to * of Front, K17 (19- 19-21-21-24).

2nd row - P17 (19-19-21-21-24), work 2nd row of lace patt from * to * of Front, P17 (19-19- 21-21-24).

3rd row - K17 (19-19-21-21-24), work 3rd row of lace patt from * to * of Front, K17 (19-19- 21-21-24).

Cont working lace patt over centre 17 sts and stocking st either side until sleeve measures 39 cm from beg, working last row on WS and dec 9 (9-5-5-1-3) st/s evenly across last row ... 42 (46-50-54-58-62) sts.

BEG BOX ST

Work in box st as for Back until sleeve measures 51 (51-51-50-49-48) cm from beg, working last row on WS.

Cast off loosely.

NECKBAND

Using mattress st, join right shoulder seam. With RS facing and using 7mm needles, knit up 59 (63-67-71-75-79) sts evenly around neck edge.

Work in rib as for lower band of Back, beg with a 2nd row until neckband measures 4cm, ending with a 2nd row. Cast off loosely in rib.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Join left shoulder and neckband seam. Join side and sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves where 2 sts were cast off for armholes on Back and Front and easing Sleeve to fit.
