19 sts to 10cm in width over garter st, using 4mm needles.

Cushion (make 2 pieces)

Using 4mm needles and C1, cast on 3 sts.

Beg Increasing - 1st row (WS) - Knit.

2nd row - K1, inc knitways in next st, K1 ... 4 sts.

3rd row - K1, inc knitways in next st, knit to end ... 5 sts.

Rep 3rd row until side edge measures 3.5cm, working last row on WS.

** Using C2, rep 3rd row until side edge measures a further 3.5cm, working last row on WS.

Using C1, rep 3rd row until side edge measures a further 3.5cm, working last row on WS. **

Rep from ** to ** twice more.

*** Using C3, rep 3rd row until side edge measures a further 3.5cm, working last row on WS.

Using C1, rep 3rd row until side edge measures a further 3.5cm, working last row on WS. ***

Rep from *** to *** twice more.

Using C4, rep 3rd row until side edge measures a further 3.5cm, working last row on WS ... approx. 49cm in all.

Beg Decreasing -

**** Using C1, 1st row - K1, K2tog, knit to end.

Rep 1st row until next side edge measures a further 3.5cm, working last row on WS.

Using C4, rep 1st row until side edge measures a further 3.5cm, working last row on WS. ****

Rep from **** to **** once more.

Cast off.

FINISHING

Do not press. Using mattress st, join the 2 pieces together along 3 sides. Place insert inside and close opening.
