  • 1.2m white Prima Homespun for backing
  • Matching Gutermann 100% cotton thread
  • Pins, tape measure, scissors, seam ripper

Read all instructions carefully before commencing the project.

INSTRUCTIONS

TABLE RUNNER

Step 1 - Cut one full width of fabric 55cm wide or desired width. Trim short ends to remove selvedges and then cut to 145cm or desired length.

Step 2 - For the backing, cut the Prima Homespun cut two 55cm wide strips across the full width of fabric. Trim selvedge and sew the two lengths together end to end to make long strip. Press seam open.

Step 3 - With backing fabric right side up, place Ellie Whittaker fabric right side down on top aligning both long sides and one short end. Pin together around all edges trimming off excess backing fabric at one end.

Step 4 - Sew together using a 1.5cm seam allowance, leaving a 20cm opening in one end for turning through. Press well.

Step 5 - Turn right side out through the opening and press in seam allowance of opening. Hand sew opening closed. Press well and topstitch around 3mm in from the edge, then a second row of topstitching 12mm in from the edge. Press well.

PLACEMATS

Step 1 - Cut eight 35cm x 48cm rectangles from Ellie Whittaker fabric and four 35cm x 48cm rectangles from Craft-Fuse stabilizer. Fuse a stabilizer rectangle to the wrong side of each of the four fabric rectangles.

Step 2 - With right sides facing, pin one plain fabric rectangle to a stabilized rectangle together around all four edges. Sew together using a 1.5cm seam allowance, leaving a 12cm opening in one side for turning through. Press well.

Step 3 - Turn right side out through the opening and press in seam allowance of opening. Hand sew opening closed and topstitch around 5mm in from the edge.

Press well.

COASTERS

Cut with an image in the centre of each square.

Step 1 - Fussy cut eight 13cm x 13cm squares from Ellie Whittaker fabric and four 13cm x 13cm squares from Craft-Fuse stabilizer. Fuse a stabilizer square to the wrong side of each of the four fabric squares.

Step 2 - With right sides facing, pin one plain fabric square to a stabilized square together around all four edges. Sew together using a 1cm seam allowance, leaving a 6cm opening in one side for turning through. Press well.

Step 3 - Turn right side out through the opening and press in seam allowance of opening. Hand sew opening closed and topstitch around 5mm in from
