NO SEW HESSIAN SPOT TABLE RUNNER
LEVEL: EASY
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Hessian gold spot (amount depends on your table length)
- Fusible webbing tape
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Ruler
- Pen
- Iron and ironing board
- Fabric cloth for ironing
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 - Using a tape measure, measure the length of your table and decide where you would like the table runner to finish. If you want it to hang over the edge, decide how much and add that amount to your table length twice to account for both sides.
Decide how wide you would like the table runner to be and record this amount also. Once you have your finished length and width add 4cm to both amounts, this will allow for a 2cm seam allowance.
Step 2 - Use a ruler and pen to draw your finished dimensions onto the hessian, cut out using scissors.
Step 3 - Next prepare your fabric for the fusible webbing by ironing down the 2cm seam allowance. Start with the shorter sides, place the fabric right side down and fold back the fabric 2cm, place a piece of fabric over the hessian to protect your iron from the gold spot and press.
Step 4 - Once your seam is pressed cut a piece of the fusible webbing to the same length of your seam. Place the webbing in-between the two layers of hessian, cover with fabric and press for about 5-7seconds.
Step 5 - Repeat steps 4 and 5 with the other short side and again with the longer sides.
Step 6 - When you are doing the corners trim off a section of the fabric from the corner on a diagonal to reduce any bulk.
Step 7 - Once all the edges are complete, iron over your runner to finish!
