INSTRUCTIONS

Creating the Flower Decal

Step 1 - Lay one of the selected fabric strips flat on the cutting mat. Using the EZ Quilt Petal Shape Triangle Ruler and a rotary cutter, cut around the template. Cut one petal from each of the selected Vintage Bouquet Florals fabric - 8 petals in total.

Step 2 - Lay out the flower petals to create a flower shape. Pair the petals together and make 4 pairs. Using the sewing machine, straight stitch two petals together at a time.

Tip- Start sewing at the center points of the petals to help keep accuracy of the join.

Step 3 - Lay out the four pairs of petals. Take two pairs and lay them right sides facing. Join the two sets together. Repeat this process for the remaining petal pairs.

Step 4 - There should be two flower halves (2 lots of 4 petals). Lay both halves right sides facing and join the petal seams. Straight stitch the two flower halves together.

Step 5 - Open the flowers and press open and flat.

Creating the Cushion Cover

Step 1 - Using the pillow base selected fabric cut two 40cm x 40cm squares.

Step 2 - Using the zipper foot on the sewing machine, insert the zipper on one side of the cushion square. Follow instructions on the Birch Zipper packaging for inserting zippers.

Step 3 - Centre flower design and press hem inwards, centre on body of the cushion and top stitch around the edge.

Tip - Using a thin plain cotton lay on top of the right side of the flower, sew around the edge, cut close to seam and make snips to allow for turning. Once pressed top stitch floral design in the centre of the cushion piece.

Step 4 - Half open the zip to allow for turning after sewing the cushion cover closed. Straight stitch the open edges together. Turn out and press.
