WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • '4 Seasons' Stallion 8Ply 50g x 1 ball 1st Colour (C1-black), 2 (2-2-3) balls 2nd Colour (C2-red), 2 (2-3-3) balls 3rd Colour (C3-yellow), 2 (2-2-3) balls 4th Colour (C4-green), 1 (1-1-2) ball/s 5th Colour (C5-navy).
  • 1 pair each 4mm and 3.25mm knitting needles or sizes required to give correct tension.
  • 2 stitch-holders
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

MEASUREMENTS

Fits Bust cm: 75-80 (size S), 85-90 (size M), 95-100 (size L), 105-110 (size XL)

Actual Size (approx) cm: 106 (size S), 116 (size M), 126 (size L), 136 (size XL)

Length to Shoulder cm: 68 (size S), 69 (size M), 70 (size L), 71 (size XL)

Sleeve Length cm: 45 (all sizes)

TENSION

22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 4mm needles.

INSTRUCTIONS

BACK

Using 4mm needles and C1, cast on 119 (129-141-151) sts.

Beg rib - 1st row (RS) - K2, P1, K1, rep from to last st, K1.

2nd row - K1, P1, K1, rep from to end.

Rep 1st and 2nd rows until work measures 6 (6-7-7) cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row.

Using C2, work in stocking st for 17cm, ending with a purl row.

Using C3, work in stocking st for 17cm, ending with a purl row.

Using C4, work in stocking st for 17cm, ending with a purl row.

Using C5 for rem, cont in stocking st until work measures 68 (69-70-71) cm from beg, ending with a purl row.

Shape Shoulders - Cast off 10 (11-12-13) sts at beg of next 8 rows.

Leave rem 39 (41-45-47) sts on a stitch-holder.

FRONT

Work as for Back to .

Using C5 for rem, cont in stocking st until work measures 62 (62-63-63) cm from beg, ending with a purl row.

Shape Neck - Next row (RS) - K50 (54-59-63), turn.

Cont on these 50 (54-59-63) sts and dec one st at neck edge in every row until 40 (44-48-52) sts rem.

Cont without shaping until work measures same as Back to beg of shoulder shaping, ending with a purl row.

Shape Shoulder - Cast off 10 (11-12-13) sts at beg of next row, then in every foll alt row twice more.

Work 1 row. Cast off rem 10 (11-12-13) sts.

Slip next 19 (21-23-25) sts onto a stitch-holder and leave.

With RS facing, join C5 to rem sts and knit to end.

Rep from to , working 1 row more before shoulder shaping.

SLEEVES

Using 3.25mm needles and C1, cast on 41 (43-45-47) sts.

Beg Rib - Work in rib as for lower band of Back until work measures 6cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row and inc 2 (6-0-4) sts evenly across last row ... 43 (49-45-51) sts.

Change to 4mm needles.

Using C2, work in stocking st for 17cm, ending with a purl row, inc one st at each end of 3rd row, then in every foll 4th row until there are 67 (73-69-75) sts.

Using C3, work in stocking st for 17cm, ending with a purl row, inc one st at each end of 3rd row, then in every foll 6th (6th-4th-4th) row until there are 83 (89-93-99) sts.

Using C4 for rem, cont in stocking st without shaping until work measures 45cm from beg, ending with a purl row.

Shape Top - Cast off 10 (11-12-13) sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 11 (12-11-12) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.

Cast off rem 21 (21-23-23) sts loosely.

NECKBAND

Using mattress st, join right shoulder seam. With RS facing, using 3.25mm needles and C1, knit up 18 (22-22-24) sts evenly along left side of neck, knit across sts from front stitch-holder, knit up 18 (22-22-24) sts evenly along right side of neck, then knit across sts from back stitch-holder - inc one st in centre ... 95 (107-113-121) sts.

Work 3cm in rib as for lower band of Back, beg and ending with a 2nd row.

Cast off loosely in rib.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st, join left shoulder and neckband seam. Tie coloured threads 20 (21-22-23) cm down from shoulder seams on side edges of Back and Front to mark armholes. Placing centre of sleeve to shoulder seam, sew in sleeves evenly between coloured threads. Join side and sleeve seams.
