Chiffon is perfect for use as an outer layer on garments such as dresses and formal tops due to its sheer appearance and fantastic draping qualities. It is also a wonderful choice to incorporate into costumes, staging and crafts. This material is composed of 56% viscose and 44% polyester. It is supplied in a 145 cm width and sold by the metre. Additional Information: Pre-wash, dry and flatten your fabric prior to sewing.
Chiffon is prone to fraying, and can be easily damaged when sewing.
When cutting, use sharp scissors and superfine pins for holding your pattern together.
Use a 60/8, 95/9 or 70/10 sharp needle.
Use a narrow, straight stitch.
A roller foot is also recommended.
Use a fine cotton or cotton polyester thread (100% polyester thread is not recommended).
Use a self-fabric interfacing.
Serge hems and seams.
