Add shimmer to your handmade garments with this Small Teardrop Patterned 125 cm Sequin Fabric. Sequin fabrics are perfect for special occasion garments and costumes. You can even use this fabric in staging or decorating projects. Using sequin fabrics can get messy, but it's worth the effort. This material is composed of 100% polyester. It is supplied in a 125 cm width and sold by the metre. Spotlight has an exciting variety of specialty fabrics for all of your apparel creating needs. Prepping and cutting sequined fabric will take time.
Before using your sequin fabric, make a toile or muslin to assist in making adjustments to ensure you are happy with the fit of your pattern.
If your sequin garment requires a lining, it is recommended to sew the lining first, to grow accustomed to the pattern.
Ensure you cut your pattern in the direction of the nap for your sequin fabric.
Sequin fabrics may blunt and knick your scissors, do not use your best scissors.
Hold your pieces together with flat head pins or clips.
Remove all sequins from the seam allowance of your pattern to reduce bulk.
Use a roller foot to prevent fraying and a stabiliser for seams.
Use a fine, universal needle to reduce the likelihood of fabric damage: 60/8, 65/9 or 70/10.
