What you'll need:

  • Lion Brand® The Cottony One:
    • Lychee ball (A)
    • Over The Moon 1 ball (B)
    • Gold Medal 1 ball (C)
    • Olive Twist 1 ball (D)
  • Large-eyed blunt needle
  • Crochet hook size H-8 (5 mm)

Measurements

About 11 x 74 in. (28 x 188 cm)

Tension

13 sts + 10 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) over (sc, dc) pattern of Rows 2 and 3. Be sure to check your gauge.

Instructions

Note

  1. Scarf is worked back and forth in rows in 2 halves.
  1. Two different yarn colours are used in each half.
  1. The yarn colour is changed to create houndstooth pattern. To change yarn colour, work last st of old colour to last yarn over. Yarn over with new colour and draw through all loops on hook to complete the st. Proceed with new colour. Carry colour not in use along tops of sts of previous row and work sts of new colour over the carried strand, enclosing.

With A, ch 37.

First Half

Row 1: With A, sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next ch, sc in next ch, rep from to last ch, dc in last ch and change to B - you will have 36 sts in this row.

Row 2: With B, ch 1, turn, sc in first dc, dc in next sc, sc in next dc, rep from to last sc, dc in last sc and change to A.

Row 3: With A, ch 1, turn, sc in first dc, dc in next sc, sc in next dc, rep from to last sc, dc in last sc and change to B.

Rep Rows 2 and 3 until almost all of the 2 balls of yarn have been used, change to C in last st of last row.


Second Half

Next row: With C, ch 1, turn, sc in first dc, dc in next sc, sc in next dc, rep from to last sc, dc in last sc and change to D.

Next row: With D, ch 1, turn, sc in first dc, dc in next sc, sc in next dc, rep from to last sc, dc in last sc and change to C.

Rep last 2 rows until almost all of the 2 balls of yarn have been used.

Fasten off.
