The leather look collection is a brilliant fabric from the vinyl range at Spotlight. Vinyl is a man made fabric, and is versatile and useful for many home and decorating projects, in addition to aprons and rain proof outerwear. The fabric is made from 100% polyurethane. The Leatherlook collection #1 would be a great one for your projects.

As Vinyl can be quite thick, be wary of not creating too many layers when sewing.
A rotary cutter and a cutting board can be ideal when cutting your pattern to ensure you have smooth edges.
Instead of pinning use clips to hold together your pattern.
Use Leather Needles from Schmetz when sewing vinyl, and a long stitch to avoid creating a rip line.
A Teflon foot or roller foot may also be beneficial as Vinyl can sometimes stick when sewing.
Tissue paper or wax paper can also be beneficial to help sew without sticking.
