WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 'Keep Sake' 100% Organic Wool 50g x 12 (13-14-15) balls Main Colour (M-grey), 3 balls 1st Contrast (C1-beige for diamonds), 1 ball 2nd Contrast (C2-charcoal for embroidery).
  • 1 pair each 4mm and 3.50mm knitting needles or sizes required to give correct tension.
  • 4 buttons
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

To Fit Bust (cm): 80-85 (size S), 90-95 (size M), 100-105 (size L), 110-115 (size XL)
Actual Size (approx) cm: 105 (size S), 115 (size M), 125 (size L), 135 (size XL)
Length (approx) cm: 64 (all sizes)
Sleeve Length (approx) cm: 45 (all sizes)

TENSION

23 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 4mm needles.

INSTRUCTIONS

BACK

Using 4mm needles and C1 (beige), cast on 123 (135-145-157) sts.

Beg Rib - 1st row (RS) - K2, P1, K1, rep from to last st, K1.

2nd row - K1, P1, K1, rep from to end.

Rep 1st and 2nd rows twice more ... 6 rows rib. Break off C1.

Using M (grey), rep 1st and 2nd rows until work measures 7cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row.

Work 106 (102-100-96) rows stocking st.

Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg of armholes as there is no armhole shaping.

Work a further 66 (70-72-76) rows stocking st.

Shape Shoulders - Cast off 38 (43-47-52) sts at beg of next 2 rows.

Cast off rem 47 (49-51-53) sts loosely.

LEFT FRONT

Using 4mm needles and C1, cast on 59 (63-69-75) sts.

Beg Rib - Work 6 rows rib as for lower band of Back. Break off C1.

Using M, cont in rib until work measures 7cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row.

Beg Graph - 1st row - K6 (9-11-14) M, knit across next 29 sts from 1st row of graph (noting C2 marked with X is embroidered on later - knit these sts in appropriate background colour), K24 (25-29-32) M

2nd row - P24 (25-29-32) M, purl across next 29 sts from 2nd row of graph, P6 (9-11-14) M.

Cont in stocking st and work rows 3 to 56 incl from graph across centre 29 sts.

Last 56 rows form patt.

Work a further 50 (46-44-40) rows patt.

Tie a coloured thread at end of last row to mark beg of armhole.

Shape Front Slope - Keeping patt correct, dec one st at end (front edge) of next row, then in every foll alt row until 48 (56-59-65) sts rem, then in every foll 4th row until 38 (43-47-52) sts rem.

Work 3 rows patt, thus ending with a 2nd row of graph ... 3 complete diamonds worked.

Using M, work 2 rows stocking st.

Cast off rem sts for shoulder.

Using C2, work knitting st embroidery marked with X from graph to each diamond as pictured.

RIGHT FRONT

Work as for Left Front to .

Beg Graph - 1st row - K24 (25-29-32) M, knit across next 29 sts from 1st row of graph (noting C2 marked with X is embroidered on later - knit these sts in appropriate background colour), K6 (9-11-14) M.

2nd row - P6 (9-11-14) M, purl across next 29 sts from 2nd row of graph, P24 (25-29-32) M.

Cont in stocking st and work rows 3 to 56 incl from graph across centre 29 sts.

Last 56 rows form patt.

Work a further 50 (46-44-40) rows patt.

Tie a coloured thread at beg of last row to mark beg of armhole.

Using 3.50mm needles and C1, cast on 51 (53-55-57) sts.

Beg Rib - Work 6 rows rib as for lower band of Back. Break off C1.

Using M, cont in rib until work measures 7cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row.

Beg Graph - 1st row - K11 (12-13-14) M, knit across next 29 sts from 1st row of graph (noting C2 marked with X is embroidered on later - knit these sts in appropriate background colour), K11 (12-13-14) M.

2nd row - P11 (12-13-14) M, purl across next 29 sts from 2nd row of graph, P11 (12-13-14) M.

Cont in stocking st and work rows 3 to 56 incl from graph across centre 29 sts, AT SAME TIME inc one st at each end of next row, then in every foll 4th (4th-4th-alt) row until there are 79 (81-83-63) sts, size XL only - then in every foll 4th row until there are 87 sts.

All Sizes - Last 56 rows form patt, noting that st will be inc.

Work a further 58 rows patt (thus ending with a 2nd row of graph), AT SAME TIME inc one st at each end of 3rd row, then in every foll 4th row until there are 89 (97-105-109) sts, sizes S and M only - then in every foll 6th row until there are 97 (101) sts.

All Sizes - Using M, work 2 rows stocking st. Cast off loosely.

Using C2, work knitting st embroidery marked with X from graph to each diamond as pictured.

LEFT FRONT BAND

Using mattress st, join shoulder seams. With RS facing, using 3.50mm needles and M, beg at centre of back neck, knit up 23 (24-25-26) sts evenly across half of back neck to shoulder, knit up 65 (70-71-76) sts evenly along left front slope to beg of front slope shaping, then 95 (93-91-89) sts evenly along left front edge ... 183 (187-187-191) sts.

Work 9 rows rib as for lower band of Back, beg with a 2nd row. Break off M.

Using C1, work a further 2 rows rib. Cast off loosely in rib.

Place 4 markers for buttons evenly along left front band, placing 4th marker just below beg of front slope shaping and 1st marker 2cm above lower band, then rem markers evenly spaced inbetween.

RIGHT FRONT BAND

With RS facing, using 3.50mm needles and M, knit up 95 (93-91-89) sts evenly along right front edge to beg of front slope shaping, 65 (70-71-76) sts evenly along right front slope to shoulder, then 23 (24-25-26) sts across rem half of back neck ... 183 (187-187-191) sts.

Work 11 rows rib as for Right Front Band, working buttoholes to correspond with each marker in 6th row as follows - "yrn to make a st, rib 2tog".

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Sew in sleeves evenly between coloured threads, placing centre of sleeves to shoulder seams. Join side and sleeve seams. Sew on buttons.
