PATTERN NOTES

Blanket is worked using a modular half log cabin technique. Each block is worked by picking up stitches along the side edge of the existing work. When picking up stitches along the side of a previous block, insert needle between the first and second stitches of the row. When picking up stitches along the bound off edge of a previous block, insert the needle into the centre "v" of the stitches just above the last garter ridge of the block. The number of stitches picked up along a bound off edge of a block will always be one less than the number of stitches in that block, as the final stitch was picked up along the side edge for the following block and is now part of the back "seam."
