INSTRUCTIONS

CUTTING

Step 1 - Note - Cut to ensure ticking stripes are matched.

Inner Cushion - Cut 2 pieces 51cm x 51cm, cut 1 piece 15cm x 51cm (flap).

Outer Cushion - Cut 2 pieces 51cm x 51cm, cut 2 pieces 5cm x 51cm (ties).

INNER CUSHIONS

Note - When pining the ticking pieces, consider which direction you want your stripes to go. Sew using a 2cm seam allowance.

Step 2 - With rights sides facing, pin flap along 1 side of cushon piece.

Step 3 - Make a hem around the raw edge of the flap, by folding over 1cm twice (or if you have an overlocker you can overlock and fold once 2cms)

Repeat this on 1 raw edge of the other cushion piece.

Step 4 - With right sides facing, pin cushion pieces together, along sides and base, then fold flap over end to make a pillowcase opening.

Step 5- Trim corners, and neaten raw edges. Turn the right side out, push out the corners and press.

OUTER CUSHION

Note - When pining the ticking pieces, consider which direction you want your stripes to go.

Step 6 - With right sides facing, pin the cushion pieces together along the sides and base, leaving one side open. Sew using a 1cm seam allowance. Trim the corners and neaten seams.

Step 7 - Fold the ties in half, length ways. Pin and sew the side and across one end using a 6mm seam allowance. Turn the right side out and press.

Step 8 - Mark the centre point along both sides of raw edge. Fold the raw edge over twice 1cm, place each tie in the cenre of each side and tuck under fold to ensure its secure.

Step 9 - Stitch hem in place 2mm from the fabric fold edge. Make another row of stitching over the centre, close to the outer fold edge to secure the tie further.

Step 10 - Turn right side out, push out the corners and press. Place cushionin the inner cushion cover, then place this in the outer cushion with the opening end in firs. Tie off to use your cushion.
