ANGEL WING FASCINATOR

Angel Wing Fascinator Project

Level: Easy

What you'll need:

  • Linen look base with headband- Natural
  • Goose Negorie Feathers- White
  • Clubhouse turkey feathers pack x 1
  • Clubhouse quail feathers pack x 1
  • Ribtex 32 gauge designer wire
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Needle and thread
  • Scissors
  • Wire cutters

Instructions

Step 1- Start by removing the crinoline fascinator from the headband base. Then reattach it onto the headband in the position you desire. It helps to do this in front of a mirror so you can see how it will sit on your head.

Step 2- Using a needle and thread sew the crinoline fascinator back onto the head band to secure in place.

Step 3- Now it's time to build the feathers. Lay out all the different types of feathers and begin to bundle them in groups of 4 or 5. Position the feathers together so the stems are overlapping and create a beautiful layered effect. Leave the smaller and longer feathers out as you will attach these individually at the end.

Step 4- Next wrap some wire around the stems of the feathers to hold the group together. Repeat this 4 or 5 times.

Step 5- Start to position the groups of feathers on the fascinator base so you can visualize how the overall head piece will look. Move them around and play in front of a mirror until you find a design you are happy with.

Step 6- Use a needle and thread to attach the groups of feathers one by one to the fascinator base. By using small stitches and a thread that is a similar colour to the fascinator your stitches should blend in well and be unnoticeable when finished.

Step 7- Continue adding the feather groups one by one and stitching in place. Try to overlap the groups so that the stems of the feathers are hidden by the next group.

Step 8- Once all the groups are stitched down it's time to fill in the gaps and add some individual feathers. Use the hot glue gun to attach these feathers one by one, working your way around the fascinator until you are happy that all the gaps are filled. You can also use the smaller feathers to hide any wire, stitches or feather stems that don't look nice.

Step 9- To finish, use scissors to trim any rogue feathers or threads.
