HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN TASSEL
LEVEL: EASY
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 1 x Skein of 'DMC' stranded cotton
- Scissors
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 - Locate one end of the stranded cotton, gently pull out a 40cm length and cut off. Cut the piece into two lengths - 30cm and 10cm.
Step 2 - Slide the paper bands towards the end of the skein, cut it in half through the centre and slide off bands.
Step 3 - Fold 30cm length in half (15cm) and lay on table. Open out one half to find the centre fold then place fold over the middle of the cut 15cm length. Repeat for other half.
Step 4 - Bring ends of the 15cm length together and tie in a double knot to secure the strands. Holding the tie at the top, pull strands down and wrap and tie the 10cm length around the tassel 15mm from the top.
Optional - Cut a 1cm x 15cm strip of fabric and tie around the tassel to cover the DMC thread band. Pull firmly and knot, trim ends on an angle.
Step 5 - Plait or knot together ends of top tie to make a cord. To attach thread ends through the zipper pull and knot together.
