WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• 'Bernat' Baby Blanket 300g x 4 balls Main Colour (M), 1 ball 1st Contrast (C1) and 2 balls 2nd Contrast (C2).
• A 10mm crochet hook or size required to give correct tension.
• A stitch marker.
• Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

INSTRUCTIONS

SACK

Note - 2ch at beg of round does not count as htr. Using 10mm hook and M, make 34ch.

1st round - 1htr in 3rd ch from hook, 1htr in each ch to last ch, 3htr in last ch,do not turn, working along other side of foundation ch, work 1htr in each ch to last ch, 2htr in last ch, join with sl st to first htr ... 66htr.

2nd round - 2ch, 2htr in first htr, 1htr in each of next 30htr, 2htr in each of next 3htr, 1htr in each of next 30htr, 2htr in each of next 2htr, join with sl st to first htr ... 72htr.

3rd round - 2ch, 2htr in first htr, 2htr in next htr, 1htr in each of next 30htr, 2htr in each of next 6htr, 1htr in each of next 30htr, 2htr in each of next 4htr, join with sl to first htr ... 84hdc.

4th round - 2ch, 1htr in each htr to end, join with sl st to first htr.

5th round - 2ch, 1htr in first htr, 1htr in each of next 37htr, 2htr in each of next 4htr, 1htr in each of next 38htr, 2htr in each of next 4htr, join with sl st to top of 2ch ... 92htr.

6th round - 2ch, 1htr in each htr around, join with sl st to first htr. Rep last round until work measures 100cm from beg. Fasten off.

SNOUT (make 2 pieces)

Using 10mm hook and C1, make 36ch.

1st row - 1htr in 3rd ch from hook, 1htr in each ch to end, turn ... 34htr.

2nd and 3rd rows - 2ch, 1htr in each htr to end, turn.

4th row - 2ch, htr2tog, 1htr in each htr to last 2 sts, htr2tog, turn ... 32 sts.

5th row - 2ch, htr2tog, 1htr in each htr to last 2 sts, htr2tog, turn ... 30 sts. Rep last row until 10 sts rem. Fasten off. With WS sides of each piece tog, join C1 with sl st to bottom right corner of Snout pieces. Working through both thicknesses, work 1 row of dc evenly around curved edge of Snout. Fasten off.

HORN

Using 10mm hook and C1, make 2ch.

1st round - 3dc in 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st to first dc.

2nd round - 1ch, 1dc in first dc, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in last dc, join with sl st to first dc ... 4dc.

3rd round - 1ch, 1dc in first dc, 1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in last dc, join with sl st to first dc ... 5dc.

4th round - 1ch, 1dc in first dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in last dc, join with sl st to first dc ... 6dc.

5th round - 1ch, 1dc in first dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, 2dc in next dc. 1dc in last dc, join with sl st to first dc .... 7dc.

6th round - 1ch, 1dc in first dc, 1dc in each of next 4dc, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in last dc, join with sl st to first dc ... 8dc.

7th round - 1ch, 1dc in first dc, 1dc in each of next 5dc, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in last dc, join with sl st to first dc ... 9dc.

8th round - 1ch, 1dc in first dc. 1dc in each of next 6dc, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in last dc, join with sl st to first dc ... 10dc.

9th round - 1ch, 1dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of next 7dc, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in last dc, join with sl st to first dc ... 11dc. Cont inc 1dc (as before) in each round until there are 25dc. Fasten off.

MANE

Using 10mm hook and C2, make 49ch.

1st row - 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, * 1dc in next ch, 13ch, 3tr in 4th ch from hook, 4tr in each of next 9ch, sl st in last dc worked, 1dc in next ch, rep from * 5 times more, ** 1dc in next ch, 26ch, 3tr in 4th ch from hook, 4tr in each of next 22ch, sl st in last dc worked, 1dc in next ch, rep from ** 16 times more, 1dc in last ch. Fasten off.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Align sides of Body to bottom edge of Snout. Sew Snout to side of Body as shown in picture. Stuff Horn lightly with poly fill. Sew Horn to top of Sack as pictured. Sew Mane to top edge of Sack, having shorter spirals on snout side of sack.

Beg Eye -

Using 10mm hook and C1, make 15ch. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each of next 2ch, * 4ch, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each of next 2ch, sl st in each of next 3ch, rep from * twice more, 4ch, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each of next 2ch, sl st in each of last 2ch. Fasten off. Sew Eye to Sack as pictured.

Beg Nostril -

Using 10mm hook and M, make 5ch.

1st round - 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in each of next 2ch, 3dc in last ch, do not turn, working along other side of ch, 1tr in each of next 2ch, 2tr in last ch, join with sl st to first dc. Fasten off. Sew Nostril as pictured.
