OOEY GOOEY ZOMBIE INTESTINE & BRAIN CUPCAKES
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Your favourite cupcake recipe
- Pink food colouring
- White buttercream icing
- Brown icing colour
- Creamy peach icing colour
- Black cup cake cases
- Tip 1A
- Cooling rack
- Round tip 4
- Decorating brush set
- 12inch disposable piping bags
- Tapered spatula
- Clear decorating gel
- 12 cup muffin pan
- A larger round tip
Step 1 - Bake cupcakes in black liners in muffin tray as per instructions. Let them cool completely on the wire rack.
Step 2 - Combine creamy peach icing colour and brown icing colour to white icing to get the "Brains" colour. Mix small amounts of icing colour at a time until you get the desired shade. 1 cup of icing in this colour is needed.
Step 3 - Combine red-red, rose red and brown to get dark red "intestines" colour. Mix small amounts of icing colour at a time until you get the desired shade. 1 cup of icing in this colour is needed.
Step 4 - Prepare 3 piping bags with icing. Use tip 4 with peach brain colour. Use tip 1A for another bag of peach icing colour. Use the largest round tip from your tip set in the piping set for the dark red "intestines" colour.
Step 5 - Ice each cupcake with white icing and, using the spatula, evenly spread the icing across the top of the cupcake until smooth and covered.
Step 6 - For brains: On half the cupcakes, using peach icing and tip 1A, pipe a 1 1/4-inch rounded, oval-shaped mound in centre. Use tip 4 and peach icing to outline each half of brain, then pipe zig zags to fill in.
Step 7 - For intestines: On remaining cupcakes, pipe intestines using continuous elongated beads to create overlapping loops. Chill cupcakes in fridge until the icing is firm.
Step 8 - Mix 1/2 cup of piping gel with red-red and a touch of brown icing colour to make it a dark, blood red. Apply patches of gel along the "intestines" with a brush.
