  • '4 Seasons' Brighton Cotton Blend 8ply 50g: 8 Colour 1 (C1) Silver, 2 Colour 2 (C2) Black, 2 Colour 3 (C3) White, 2 Colour 4 (C4) Orchid, 2 Colour 5 (C5) Hot Pink, 2 Colour 6 (C6) Orange, 2 Colour 7 (C7) Mustard, 2 Colour 8 (C8) Yellow.
  • A 4mm crochet hook, or size required to give correct tension.
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

TENSION

1 square = 12.5cm, using a 4mm hook.

Dbltr = double treble.

INSTRUCTIONS

SQUARE

Using 4mm hook and C4, make a magic ring.

1st round - 3ch (counts as tr throughout), 7tr into ring, sl st into 3rd of 3ch at beg ... 8 sts.

2nd round - 4ch (counts as dbltr throughout), 2tr in same st, 1tr in next st, * (2tr, 1dbltr, 2tr) in next st, 1tr in next st, rep from * around, 2tr in same st as 4ch at beg, sl st into 4th of 4ch at beg ... 24 sts.

3rd round - 4ch, 2tr in same st, 1tr in each of next 5 sts, * (2tr, 1dbltr, 2tr) in next st, 1tr in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around, 2tr in same st as 4ch at beg, sl st into 4th of 4ch at beg ... 40 sts.

4th round - 4ch, 2tr in same st, 1tr in each of next 9 sts, * (2tr, 1dbltr, 2tr) in next st, 1tr in each of next 9 sts, rep from * around, 2tr in same st as 4ch at beg, sl st into 4th of 4ch at beg ... 56 sts.

Change to C2 - 5th round - 4ch, 2tr in same st, 1tr in each of next 13 sts, (2tr, 1dbltr, 2tr) in next st, 1tr in each of next 13 sts, 2tr in next st - change to C3 - (1dbltr, 2tr) in same st as last 2tr, 1tr in each of next 13 sts, (2tr, 1dbltr, 2tr) in next st, 1tr in each of next 13 sts, 2tr in same st as 4ch at beg, sl st into 4th of 4ch at beg ... 72 sts.

Change to C1 - 6th round - 4ch, 2tr in same st, 1tr in each of next 17 sts, * (2tr, 1dbltr, 2tr) in next st, 1tr in each of next 17 sts, rep from * around, 2tr in same st as 4ch at beg, sl st into 4th of 4ch at beg ... 88 sts.

Fasten off.

Make remaining squares in same way: 16 of each colour C4 to C8 ... 80 squares.

Block squares if desired. Sew together as shown in diagram.

BORDER

Using C1 and 4mm hook, attach yarn to any tr - 1st round - 3ch, 1tr in each st around, and (2tr, 1dbltr, 2tr) in each corner, sl st into 3rd of 3ch at beg. Fasten off.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Sew in ends. Block if desired.
