Step 1 - Start by making your paper pattern:

Measure out on paper and cut out the below using the provided measurements.

Step 2 - Cut out pattern pieces in satin and wadding.

Step 3 - Sew one of the satin BAG MAIN pieces to the wadding BAG MAIN piece around the edges to hold in place. Do the same with one of the BAG BASE satin pieces and BAG BASE wadding piece.

Step 4 - Sew ends of wadded BAG MAIN piece short sides together to create a tube.

Step 5 - Sew two lines of gathering stitches at base of tube, pull and gather to fit the circumference of bag base.

Step 6 - Pin and stitch bag main to bag base.

Step 7 - Repeat steps 4 to 6 this with non-wadding satin pieces (this will be the bags lining)

Step 8 - For the plaited handle- create three tubes, sewing the wadding and satin pieces down the long side and bagging out. Press flat with the seams to the back.

Step 9 - Stack short ends together and do a quick straight stitch across the top to hold in place.

Plait pieces together and strait stitch the other end once entire length is plaited.

Step 13 - Sew a 'channel' 2.5 cm from the top- wide enough to fit your cord though

unpick seam in channel- and thread cord through with a safety pin.

Pull cord tight to make your bag close!

Option: You can use a contrast lining in another fabric for this bag!
