CALICO TOTE BAG

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 - Cut two pieces of the face fabric in square 48 x 48cm each.

Step 2 - Hem the top edges of the bag which will become the two edges of the opening. To do this, lay out the rectangles so that the wrong side of the fabric. Fold the top edge of the fabric down by 2cm and iron to make a crease. Use a straight stitch to hem the top of the bag.

Step 3 - Place the hemmed rectangles back-to-back so that the right side of the fabric are facing in. Sew along the two sides and bottom using a straight stitch.

Step 4 - For the handles, fold each strap in half so that the inside of the fabric faces outward. Use an iron to crease the fold.

Step 5 - Stitch along the edges of both handles and then thread back through itself to invert the tube.

Step 6 - Iron the handle to flatten.

Step 7 - Fold the ends of your handles under by 1.3cm, iron this crease.

Step 8 - Place the ends approximately 3cm below the edge of the bag opening, pin temporarily and sew into place.
