FLEECE PLAY MAT

Instructions:

Step 1- From Polar Fleece cut 2 x 7cm wide strips from one long edge and set aside for binding, cut 2 x 1.3m squares.

Step 2- Layer the polar fleece squares and wadding together as follows, place one polar fleece square face down with wadding on to then place remaining polar fleece square on top with right side face up. Align all edges and use safety pins to pin together all 3 layers.

Step 3- Attach walking foot to the machine and stitch vertical lines from top to bottom through all 3 layers approx. 5cm apart ensuring all 3 layers remain flat. Take care not to sew over the safety pins.

Step 4- Remove safety pins. Using a paper create a large circle template with a 1.2m diameter. Place the template on the stitched fabric and cut out a circle.

Step 5- Join the 6cm wide strips together on the bias to make one long strip. With circle right side facing up and the strip right side down (right sides will be together) pin the edge the strip 10cm in from one end to the edge of the circle, raw edges aligned. Pin and sew edge of strip around circle using 1cm seam allowance. When back to the start overlap ends and trim off excess fabric.

Step 6- Fold raw edge of strip over then fold to the back and use binding clips or pins to secure in place. Hand or machine sew in place.
