Flannelette Ballet Flats Project

What You'll Need:

  • 20cm Flannelette Fabric
  • 20cm Top Pop
  • Non-slip Fabric with Grip
  • 4x 50cm Ribbon
  • 2x 35cm Bias Binding

INSTRUCTIONS

Cutting the pattern - Printout the template on an A4 sheet.

Step 1 -Use the Upper Shoe stencil to cut out two pieces of fabric and two pieces of lining. Use the Sole stencil to cute out two pieces of non-slip fabric, two pieces of wadding, and two pieces of lining.

Step 2 - Take the bias binding and pin it along the inner edge of Upper Shoe fabric piece, on wrong side. Baste.

Step 3 - Take the Upper Shoe fabric piece and pin the center back seam. Sew. Repeat for the lining.

Step 4 - Pin ribbons on Upper Shoe fabric piece, where marked on template. Baste.

Step 5 - Place the Upper Shoe fabric and lining piece together, right sides facing, pin along inner edge. Sew together.

Step 6 - Turn the pieces right way around, so the wrong sides are now facing each other. Pin together along the outer edge. Baste.

Tip - Roll up ribbons and pin the down to keep them out of the way.

Step 7 - Take the Sole wadding piece and lay it on the wrong side of Sole lining piece. Pin around the edge. Baste.

Step 8 - Take the sewn Upper Shoe piece and lay it on the Sole piece, lining together. Pin around the outer edge. Baste.

Step 9 - Take the Sole gripped piece and lay it atop, right sides together. You should have the Upper shoe sandwiched between the two Sole pieces. Pin along the edge. Sew together, leaving a 5-10cm opening for turning.

Step 10 - Turn the shoe right way out. Slipstitch the opening closed. Remove any basting stiches.
