Marvel 8 Ply Hexagon Throw Project

LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 4 Seasons Marvel 8ply 100g x 1 ball each of 1st Colour (C1-1907), 2nd Colour (C2- 2024), 3rd Colour (C3-1918), 4th Colour (C4-1016), 5th Colour (C5-1064) 6th Colour (C6-1926), 7th Colour (C7- 1904), 8th Colour (C8-1098)
  • A pair 4mm knitting needles, a 4mm circular needle (60cm long) and a set of 4 double pointed 4mm needles, or size required to give correct tension
  • Stitch markers
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

MEASUREMENTS

Width (approx) 110cm Length (approx) 110cm

TENSION

22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 4mm needles.

INSTRUCTIONS

HEXAGON

Using 4mm circular needle and C1, cast on 108 sts, join into a round taking care not to twist sts.

Foundation round - (K18, place marker) 6 times.

1st round - (sl 1, K1, psso), purl to last 2 sts before marker, K2tog, slip marker) 6 times ... 96 sts.

2nd round - Knit.

Note - Change to set of 4 double pointed needles, when you can no longer work sts comfortably on circular needle.

Rep last 2 rounds 7 times more ... 12 sts.

Next round-K2tog, rep from to end...6 sts.

Break off yarn, leaving a long end. Run end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.

Using C1, make a further 7 hexagons ... 8 in total.

Using C2, make 7 hexagons. Using C3, make 8 hexagons. Using C4, make 7 hexagons. Using C5, make 8 hexagons. Using C6, make 7 hexagons. Using C7, make 8 hexagons. Using C8, make 7 hexagons.

HALF HEXAGON

Using pair 4mm needles and C2, cast on 56 sts.

Foundation row (WS) - P19, place marker, P18, place marker, P19.

1st row (RS) - K1, (sl 1, K1, psso, purl to 2 sts before marker, K2tog, slip marker) twice, sl 1, K1,

psso, purl to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1 ... 50 sts. 2nd row - Purl.

Rep last 2 rows 6 times more, then 1st row once ... 8 sts.

Next row - P1, (P2tog) 3 times, P1 ... 5 sts.

Break off yarn, leaving a long end. Run end through rem sts, draw up tightly to close the half

hexagon and fasten off securely.

Using C2, make another half hexagon ... 2 in total.

Using C4, make 2 half hexagons. Using C6, make 2 half hexagons. Using C8, make 2 half hexagons.

FINISHING

With a slightly damp cloth and warm iron, press hexagons and half hexagons, lightly on WS - do not flatten. Sew in ends neatly.

Using picture as a guide, join hexagons as follows - 8 hexagons of C1, this forms 1st line, 7 hexagons of C2, half hexagons added to each end, this forms 2nd line, continue joining hexagons and half hexagons as in 1st and 2nd lines until all 8 lines are completed. Join 1st through to 8th lines together to form throw.
