Instructions:

Note - this project is requires is not suitable for children under 3 years of age.

Prepare your materials

Step 1 - Lay out a plastic tablecloth to protect your workspace. Pour some of the rubbing alcohol into a glass jar only a few cm full. Wipe down the glossy surface of each tile removing any dust particles.

Step 2 - Colour in the glossy surface of each tile using your sharpie markers. We coloured in the tiles by colouring in blocks and filling the whole tile with colour so there is no white space showing.

Step 3 - Now you are ready to use the rubbing alcohol. The effect you create with the rubbing alcohol will vary depending on the amount of alcohol you apply to the tile and how you apply it. For our project, we used a paint brush to gently daub the surface of the tile. We made sure not to apply too much rubbing alcohol. You can also apply the alcohol by using a dropper. When you use the dropper, scatter the drops around the surface and wait until they have dispersed.

Step 4 - Once you have finished applying the rubbing alcohol, set aside your tiles to dry. They will be finished when they are dry to touch.
