GRINCH CHRISTMAS WREATH

Grinch Christmas Wreath Project

LEVEL: EASY

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 4 x Grinch Christmas Fabrics - 35cm of each
  • 500gm Hobbyfill
  • Sewing machine and matching Thread
  • Scissors
  • Long knitting need or wooden rod
  • Iron and ironing board
  • Hand sewing needle

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 - Take 1 piece of Christmas fabric and cut 2 strips 15cm wide across the width of the fabric. Join the short ends together. Press seam open and trim strip to 150cm. Repeat for 2 more pieces of fabric. You should end up with 3 strips of different fabric 15cm x 150cm.

Step 2 - Fold each fabric strip in half lengthwise and stitch across the short end and down one side. Secure the end. Clip corner and snip at intervals along the long edge. Turn right side out and stuff with hobbyfill up to the last 5cm. You may need a long knitting needle or wooden rod to help. Tuck the ends in about 5mm and stitch across opening. Pin one short end of all 3 fabric sausages together. Hand stitch in place.

Step 3 - Plait the 3 fabric sausages together tightly. Secure the 3 ends together with safety pins. Hand stitch the 3 short ends together.

Step 4 - Shape the plaited fabric into a circle, making sure the seams of each sausage aren't showing. Hand stitch the ends together firmly.

Step 5 - Make the Bow. Take the 4th piece of Christmas fabric and cut 2 strips 16cm wide across the width of the fabric. Join the short ends together. Press seam open and trim strip to 150cm.

Step 6 - Fold the fabric strip in half lengthwise and stitch diagonally across the short end and halfway down one side. Leave a 15cm opening, then continue stitching down the long side and diagonally across the short end. Secure the end. Clip corners and turn right side out. Press flat and topstitch around all edges.

Step 7 - Tie bow neatly at the bottom of the plaited wreath.

Step 8 - Make the Hanging Loop. Cut a piece of fabric 12cm x 8cm. Fold in half, with right sides out, and press. Fold both cut edges into the centre fold and press. Top stitch along both long edges. Fold in half so that short edges meet and stitch across short ends. Flip loop out the other way and stitch across the loop 5mm up from the join. Hand stitch to the back of the wreath at the top.
