CHRISTMAS SLIPPERS

Christmas Slippers Project

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • 'Moda Vera' Yana 50g balls: 2 x Colour 1 (C1), 1 x Colour 2 (C2), 1 x Colour 3 (C3)
  • Small amount yellow/gold yarn or embroidery thread.
  • 5mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure.

TENSION

13 sts and 7.5 rows to 10cm over plain treble fabric

Note - This project is worked on a smaller hook and at a firmer tension than is usually recommended for this yarn

SPECIAL STITCHES

tbl = through back loop: work through the back part of the st, leaving a 'ridge' at the front of the st, tr2tog = treble two sts together: (yarn over, insert hook in next st, draw a loop through, yarn over, draw through 2 loops on hook) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

INSTRUCTIONS

SLIPPER (make two)

BEG TOE

Using C1 and 5.5mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st round - 1ch, 10dc into ring, sl st into dc at beg ... 10 sts.

2nd round - 3ch (counts as 1tr throughout), 1tr in same st, 2tr in each st around, sl st into 3rd of 3ch at beg ... 20 sts.

3rd round - 3ch, 1tr in each of next 2 sts, 2tr in next st, * 1tr in each of next 3 sts, 2tr in next st, rep from * around, sl st into 3rd of 3ch at beg ... 25 sts.

4th round - 3ch, 1tr in each st around, sl st into 3rd of 3ch at beg.

5th - 11th rounds - Rep 4th round.

CONT FOR HEEL

1st row (RS) - 3ch, 1tr in each of next 16 sts, turn ... 17 sts.

2nd row - 3ch, 2tr in next st, 1tr in each st to last 2 sts, 2tr in next st, 1tr in next st, turn ... 19 sts.

3rd row - 3ch, 1tr in each st to end, turn.

4th row - Repeat 2nd row ... 21 sts.

5th row - Repeat 3rd row.

6th row - 3ch, 1tr in each of next 6 sts, tr2tog, 1dc in next st, miss 1 st, 1dc in next st, tr2tog, 1tr in each st to end ... 18 sts.

Fold slipper in half lengthways with WS tog and line up sts of last row. Sl st through both layers in each of next 8 sts to form heel seam. Fasten off.

BEG SOCK

With RS facing, join C2 to heel seam and, using 5.5mm hook - 1st round - 1ch, 1dc in seam, 2dc around each tr along first side to front edge, 1dc in each st across front edge, 2dc around each tr along second side, sl st into dc at beg ... 33 sts.

2nd round - 1ch, 1dc tbl in same st, 1dc tbl in each st around, sl st into dc at beg.

3rd - 4th rounds - Rep 2nd round. Fasten off.

BEG BELT

Using C3 and 5.5mm hook, make 27ch.

1st row - 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end.

2nd - 3rd rows - 1ch, 1dc in same st, 1dc in each st to end. Fasten off, leaving a tail for stitching.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Sew in ends. Position belt diagonally across top of slippers as shown and stitch belt ends in place. Using yellow yarn/thread, stitch belt buckle on belt, catching into top of slipper to anchor in place.
