CALICO SANTA BAGS

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 - Using the template provided, trace letters onto the paper side of Vliesofix with a pencil. With an iron, fuse the glue side of Vliesofix to the back of the Scandi Christmas Cotton Fabric Flat Fat. Cut out letters.

Step 2 - Peel off the backing paper from the cut-out letters. Position the letters as desired on the front of the calico fabric, centered and with the base of the letters approximately 15cm from the base edge. Fuse letters to calico with an iron.

Step 3 - Topstitch around all edges of the letters.

Step 4 - With right sides facing, fold calico piece in half aligning the two side edges. Pin and sew together the side and base edges with a one-centimeter seam allowance. Clip corners and press seams open.

Step 5 - Cut two strips from Scandi Christmas Cotton Fabric Flat fat with each measuring 15cm high by 45cm wide.

Step 6 - With right sides facing, pin and sew the side strip edges together with a 1cm seam allowance. Press seams open. With wrong sides facing, fold strips in half aligning the long edges together. Baste edges together.

Step 7 - Turn calico bag right way out, press flat. Pin the long raw edges of the Scandi Christmas fabric strip to the top raw edges of the calico bag. Sew edges together with a 1cm seam allowance. Overlock seam and press seam down. On the calico side of the seam, top stitch around bag.

Step 8 - Tie ribbon around the bag to secure.

Tip - The ribbon can be secured to the bag by sewing the middle of the ribbon length to the middle of the bag at desired height.
