The Bag


Starting with C1 and a 4mm hook, create a slip knot

Finish off with a slip stitch.


Cord

This will be used to thread through the holes in the bag as a drawstring measuring 65cm slack.

Starting with C2, using a 4mm hook, create a sl kn, 3ch.

Insert hook into second chain from the hook, yarn through, insert into next chain and yarn through. You should have 3 loops on your hook.

Slide your hook out of 2 loops, yarn over and pull through the first loop, slide the hook into the second loop and yarn through, slide the hook into the third loop and yarn through. You should be left with 3 loops on your hook. Repeat the process until you reach the desired length, in this case, 65cm. Finish off with a slip stitch.

Sew in the ends back into the cord.


Straps

Starting with C2 and using a 4mm hook make a slip knot

Rnd 1: Ch 6. (6)

Rnd 2: Turn, sc in 2nd chain from the hook and all along. (5)

Rnd 3 -100: Ch1, turn, sc along. (5)

Change to MC.

Sc around the edge to give the strap a border, 2sc in each corner.

Finish off with a slip stitch.


Top Flap

Starting with C1 and using a 4mm hook, make a slip knot.

Rnd 1: Ch 4, sc in 2nd chain from the hook, sc in next, 2sc in last, turn work and continue down the other side, sc in next 2, do not create a circle, ch 1, turn your work to create a semi-circle/rainbow shape. (6)

Rnd 2: Sc, inc in next 4 st, sc, ch1, turn. (10)

Rnd 3: Sc in each stitch, ch1, turn. (10)

Rnd 4: Sc, inc in next 8 st, sc, ch1, turn. (18)

Change to C2.

Rnd 5: Working in BLO, sc in each stitch. (18)

Rnd 22-29: Ch 1, turn, sc across. (36)

Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing.


Assembly

Line up the flap tab edge with the back of the bag, 10 rows from the top. Securely sew using a yarn needle.

With the top of the strap, align straps 5 stitches in, on the flap tab. Secure by sewing down 7 rows of the strap, sewing in a square.

Sew the bottom end of the strap to the bottom of the bag.

Sew in all loose ends and trim excess.

You can add a bead to the drawstring if you wish.
