Due to the way the pile is cut, it is important to keep pattern pieces running in the same direction when sewing, other wise shadowing will be created in your finished garment
Ideally the nap should run down your pattern
Rub your hand across the fabric to identify nap direction, the nap lays down smooth in the direction of the nap
A fine sharp needle and fine thread should be used when sewing Velveteen
A roller or walking foot may be beneficial for sewing pane velvet
Finish raw edges with a serger stitch or encased binding as pile may shed
Finished garments should be washed inside out prior to wearing
