Level: Easy
What you'll need:
- Cotton canvas fabric - We used Warlu Indigenous Furnishings Cotton Canvas, however you can use any Furnishings fabric
- Artist canvas frame
- Measuring tape
- Pen or pencil
- Scissors
- Staple gun
- Staples
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1- Measure the artist canvas you wish to cover. Add the width of the side depth, plus add 3cm to all 4 sides of the measurements, and record on a piece of paper.
Eg. If the depth of the frame is 1cm, add 3cm, (a total of 4cm) to each side measurement. If the frame measures 40 x 40cm, then cut out 44 x 44cm.
Step 2- Cut out the fabric using fabric scissors.
Step 3- Lay the fabric face down onto a table and place the frame side-down on the back of the fabric. Start on one side of the canvas, and using the staple gun, staple onto the back of the frame.
Step 4- Pull the fabric tight to avoid wrinkles, then staple on the opposing side.
Step 5- Once two sides are complete, for the two remaining sides, pull the fabric tight, then fold edges neatly and staple on the back of the frame.
Your new artwork is ready to hang on a wall.
