Wash, dry and flatten your fabric prior to sewing.
Pre-washing will make the fabric softer and minimise future shrinkage.
You may want to pre-wash your fabric twice for best results.
Use sharp scissors or a new blade on your rotary cutter.
It is best to cut through one layer at a time, and pay attention to grain lines.
If your denim is fraying after cutting, secure the raw edges by using a sewing machine zig zag stitch or an overlocker.
Use thicker pins or clips to hold your pattern together.
Use a jean needle for sewing denim, and select the appropriate needle for the thickness of the fabric - the thicker the fabric, the higher the needle number.
A walking foot may be beneficial.
Use a heavy duty thread.
Press seams to minimise bulk.
