Level: Easy

What you'll need:

  • 5m fabric
  • 1m cotton heading tape
  • Gutermann Sewing threads - to match fabric colours
  • Sewing machine
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Iron
  • Fabric marker
  • Ruler/Tape measure

Step 1- Cut 2 pieces of pride drill, measuring 45cm High x 37cm wide.

Cut 2 pieces of heading tape for bag straps measuring 52cm each.

Step 2- With right sides together sew the 2 pieces of drill together using a 1cm seam allowance, sew down the sides and the bottom edge. Press side seams open. Trim excess seam allowance around the corners of the bottom edge.

Step 3- From top edges, measure 9cm in and mark. This is where the straps will be placed. Creating a rolled hem, turn the top edge over 2cm, then turn again measuring another 2 cm. Tuck straps under the hem at the 9cm mark and bring them over the top of the hem. Pin the hem and straps in place. Sew a line of stitching on the edge of the hem, making sure to secure the straps whilst sewing. Sew a second line of stitching along the free edge, also making sure to secure the straps whilst sewing.

Step 4- Turn right sides out and give the bag one last iron.
