GINGHAM SHOPPING BAG HOLDER

What you'll need:
- 1m of Y/D cotton Gingham
- 20cm elastic (4mm width)
- Safety Pin
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Thread
- Sewing Machine
Instructions
Cutting:
Step 1- This project is made using two simple rectangles. Using your pencil and using the gingham pattern as a guide to cut straight lines.
Cut two rectangles of fabric. One 45cm X 55cm and one 7cm X 20cm.
Sewing:
Step 1- Fold over made pattern piece longer sides together and sew with 1cm seam allowance. Press seam open.
Step 2- At top of main tube double turn a 1cm hem and sew.
Step 3- At bottom of main tube double turn a 1cm hem and sew leaving a 2cm gap. This is to thread the elastic through.
Step 4- Using the safety pin, feed the length of elastic through the bottom hem. Secure elastic together at ends on sewing machine.
Step 5- Close hem to hold elastic in.
Step 6- With hanging loop pattern piece, sew long ends together and turn right side out creating a tube. Press with seam to back.
Step 7- Fold hanging loop in half and secure to inside of top of the holder main.
We used a square and cross stitch for added strength for the loop.
